Are Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer dating? Friends cast reunion ‘stirs up feelings’ – are they together?
and live on Freeview channel 276
As actors, they portrayed one of television’s most talked about will-they-won’t-they relationships.
In May 2021, Aniston and Schwimmer reunited with their Friends co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry for the first time since the beloved show ended its celebrated 10-year run in 2004.
It included the cast reminiscing about their time on the show as well as cameos from A-list fans.
And it looks as if the pair hit it off on set, with reports of Schwimmer – who lives in New York – spending a considerable amount of time at Aniston’s LA home in recent months. But are they two really dating?
Here is what we know.
How might the pair have coupled up?
As part of the Friends reunion, both Aniston and Schwimmer admitted they’d shared an off-screen romance in the early days of the sitcom, with the latter saying he had a “major crush” on his female co-star.
At the time, the two actors never became anything more official, as “one of us was always in a relationship”.
Asked by reunion host James Corden if any of the stars ever grew close, Schwimmer said: “The first season I had a major crush on Jen. And I think we both, at some point, were crushing hard on each other but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”
Aniston agreed and said their first kiss did indeed come on TV, when they embraced at Central Perk, the coffee shop where the gang spent much of their time; she added: “We just channelled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
Schwimmer later admitted he was surprised that those on set were not aware of his feelings for Aniston due to their overt flirting, only for his co-stars to insist: “We knew.”
Are they really dating?
That get-together “stirred up feelings” for both of them, a source told Closer magazine, who said the “chemistry they’d always had to bury was still there.”
“They’ve been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing,” the source claimed.
But representatives of Schwimmer have said there are no truths to the rumours of a romance.
In June, Aniston said she was “absolutely” not interested in finding love on dating apps, telling People magazine she planned to use “the normal ways of dating” to find a partner.
She said: “Absolutely no. I’m going to just stick to the normal ways of dating. Having someone ask you out. That’s the way I would prefer it.”
Asked whether she was interested in marrying again, Aniston said she was more interested in finding the right person.
She replied: “Oh God, I don’t know. It’s not on my radar. I’m interested in finding a fantastic partner and just living an enjoyable life and having fun with one another.
“That’s all we should hope for. It doesn’t have to be etched in stone in legal documents.”
Aniston was married to Brad Pitt from 2000 until 2005 before Pitt got together with Angelina Jolie, who he married in 2014.
She started a relationship with actor and director Justin Theroux in May 2011 and they married in August 2015, separating in late 2017.
How have fans reacted?
Whether or not the rumours turn out to be true, Friends fans have been lapping up the reports of Schwimmer and Aniston’s real-life romance.
"I literally just got chills," said one user on Twitter. “Ross and Rachel. Rachel and Ross. Jen and David. It’s all meant to be.”
Another Friends fan said if confirmation was to come of the pair’s romance, it would be “the only news that can save 2021”, while yet another suggested “worldwide street parties if it’s confirmed that Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer are actually dating.”
Some fans took things even further, with another saying they would throw out their “entire life” if Aniston and Schwimmer are confirmed to be dating.
