BBC’s post-breakfast morning show, Morning Live, has been missing one half of its presenting team for the past few months, with Kym Marsh absent from the show.

Marsh, who played Michelle Connor on ITV’s Coronation Street, was co-host of the 9.15am show with Gethin Jones.

However, she has been absent from the show since 28 June and fans have taken to Twitter to question why she’s not been presenting.

Here is what we know about where she is, and who is replacing her.

Why is Kym Marsh not on Morning Live?

Marsh has had a period of extended absence for a number of reasons.

She was off of the show in early July after her son David tested positive for Covid and she was required to self-isolate. The following week, her co-host Gethin Jones.

Marsh’s father is also currently unwell with terminal postate cancer, and Marsh broke down on Morning Live in June when she spoke about him.

In an interview with OK magazine in early July, Marsh confirmed that she had not been back on the show since she received the devastating news that her father, Dave, had become increasingly unwell while battling prostate cancer.

Marsh was previously absent from the show following surgery to have a hernia removed in January. She was absent for related reasons again at the end of March.

At the time, she said: “I’m on medication for a hiatus hernia, which means part of my stomach is protruding into my oesophagus.

“It gives me heartburn, so I take medication called lansoprazole...I’m suffering from a hernia and it’s causing me pain.”

Will Kym Marsh make more music?

Rumours about a musical come-back for the former Hear’Say star have also been circulating lately.

In early August, Marsh posted a photo of herself in a music studio, hinting that she could be producing new music.

She captioned the photo "Exciting times ahead!!!" and received plenty of messages from her followers following the news.

Kym’s replacement for the time being is Strictly Come Dancing’s Janette Manrara.

She joined Gethin on Morning Live from 5 July and will remain as Marsh’s replacement until she returns.

Manrara is best known as a professional dancer on the BBC celebrity dancing show.

It was announced last month that she will now take over presenting it’s spin-off, Strictly: It Takes Two, as Zoe Ball stepped down from presenting duties.
