Where is Too Close filmed?
Too Close was filmed on location in London and Kent.
The bulk of the scenes featuring the two leading actresses were filmed at the now closed Holloway Prison in London.
Emily Watson told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "we thrived filming the scenes in the psychiatric unit. Actresses like me and Denise, that’s what we love doing.

Hide Ad“That’s like a really great day at the office. It’s thrilling to do. A real acting workout. We filmed the psychiatric unit scenes at the now-closed Holloway Prison in London.
“It was a really grim place. Now a dead building which has housed so many sad lives. Those scenes are very intense.”
The show also features Sheppey Way and Kingsferry Bridge in Kent.
During filming a local cyclist complained that they were forced to use Sheppey Way to get home during high winds. Crossing Sheppey Way by bicycle is illegal.

Hide AdToo Close is based on a novel of the same name written by actress Clara Salaman under the pseudonym Natalie Daniels.
Released in 2018 the Bill actress’ debut novel received critical acclaim with fellow writer Emma Curtis labelling it “seriously brilliant - quality writing, three-dimensional characters and a sharp wit."
Salaman has also penned the screenplay for the ITV adaptation.
The story featured in the novel is not based on a true story.

Hide AdEmily Watson stars as conflicted psychiatrists Emma Robertson. In 2019 Watson starred alongside Paul Ritter in Sky/HBO historical drama Chernobyl.
You may also recognise her from BBC crime thriller Apple Tree Yard in which she starred as Yvonne Carmichael.
She stars opposite Denise Gough who plays criminal suspect Connie Mortensen.
Gough is an Olivier Award winner who featured in ‘71 and Robin Hood. She is also known for her voiceover work in fantasy video game The Witcher.

Thalissa Teixeira who recently appeared in BBC Two drama Trigonometry plays Ness Jones.
