All of Us Are Dead (or Jigeum Uri Hakgyoneun) is a South Korean horror series about a zombie outbreak in a school.

The trapped students have to fight to survive, avoiding being eaten or infected themselves, and try to escape unscathed.

Production began in 2020, but was delayed due to the novel coronavirus – so it’s been quite highly anticipated by fans for a long time (a really long time, given the original comic began publishing in 2009).

Who is in the cast?

The series stars Yoon Chan-young as Lee Chung-san. Yoon, a former child actor, was the first actor to be cast in All of Us Are Dead.

Squid Game star Lee Yoo-mi plays Lee Na-yeon, while 17-year-old Park Ji-hoo (The House of Hummingbird) plays Nam On-jo.

They’re joined by Cho Yi-hyun (Hospital Playlist), Park Solomon (Sweet Revenge) and Yoo In-soo (At a Distance, Spring Is Green).

It was directed by Lee Jae-kyoo, who previously made the musical series Beethoven Virus.

What’s it based on?

The series is based on a digital comic – specifically a webtoon, an online comic that originated in South Korea and is intended to be read on a smartphone – called Now at Our School.

The webtoon, available on the Naver platform, was published from 2009 to 2011. There are 130 instalments of Now at Our School, and it was written by Joo Dong-geun.

Is there a trailer?

Yes there is, and you can watch it here to see the gory zombie attacks.

When is it on and how can I watch it?

All 12 episodes are available to stream on Netflix from January 28.

The episodes vary considerably in length, with the shortest around 53 minutes and the longest approaching 72 minutes.

Why should I watch it?

Because everyone loves a good zombie thriller, and this looks set to be a particularly well-made one – and, with a source material of over 130 issues to draw from and a dedicated fanbase, it looks like All of Us Are Dead could be a longrunning series too.
