Karren Brady is stepping down from her role as vice-chair of West Ham after 16 years. In a statement to The Times, she said: “It has been a privilege to work alongside the board, management, players, staff and supporters at West Ham United.
“Together we have achieved remarkable milestones, but the highlight for me will always be lifting the Uefa Europa Conference League trophy — a moment that will stay with me forever. I am deeply grateful for the relationships, challenges and opportunities that have shaped my time at the club.
“While this chapter closes, my passion for football and commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders remains undiminished. I wish West Ham united every success for the future and look forward to following their continued achievements with pride.”
The Instagram account for West Ham has shared news of Karren Brady’s departure and the statement reads: “Club Statement: Baroness Karren Brady announces departure from West Ham United.
“Baroness Karren Brady, Vice-Chair of West Ham United, has today announced her decision to step down from her role at the Club.
“Reflecting on her tenure, Baroness Brady said: “It has been a privilege to work alongside the Board, management, players, staff and supporters at West Ham United. Together we have achieved remarkable milestones, but the highlight for me will always be lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy - a moment that will stay with me forever. I am deeply grateful for the relationships, challenges and opportunities that have shaped my time at the Club.”

“In her 16 years as Vice-Chair, Baroness Brady led the negotiations to secure the Club’s move to the London Stadium, overseeing and driving the process that delivered the transition to a 62,500-capacity stadium. Under her leadership, West Ham United built a season ticket base of more than 50,000 supporters and now regularly records attendances among the highest in world football, reinforcing the Club’s standing both globally and within the Premier League.
“Looking ahead, Baroness Brady will continue to focus on her broader business interests, including non-executive roles, contributions in the House of Lords, mentoring, and leadership initiatives, as well as continuing her longstanding role on television series The Apprentice.
“She added: “While this chapter closes, my passion for football and commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders remains undiminished. I wish West Ham United every success for the future and look forward to following their continued achievements with pride.”
Karren Brady was just 23 when she was appointed managing director of Birmingham City in 1993 and four years later, floated the club on London’s Stock Exchange. She joined the board of West Ham in January 2010 and joined The Apprentice as Lord Sugar’s aide in 2010 for the sixth series.
However, in recent years, a lot of the headlines relating to Karren Brady appear to be about her apparent ‘weight loss’ rather than her enormous achievements which include being awarded a CBE for services to women in business and entrepreneurship in December 2013. The following year, she took the title of Baroness Karren Brady of Knightsbridge CBE when she was elevated to the House of Lords.
Karren Brady reportedly told The Sun that “I'm not on Ozempic, but questions about women's weight come up far more often than they should. I'd much prefer the conversation to be focused around my work.
"Anyone can do anything they want to their own body. I have no problem with it at all. But people think they know something they don't know, or they just presume.
"And so what if I was? And what if I wasn't? It would be my choice. I think the way people talk about women's bodies is certainly an effort to belittle them or make them feel insecure."
