Perry Farrell seeks medical help after onstage fight with bandmate Dave Navarro ends Jane's Addiction tour

Perry Farrell, lead singer of Jane’s Addiction, is seeking professional help following an onstage altercation that led to the premature end of the band’s tour.

According to his wife, Etty Lau Farrell, Perry is set to consult with medical experts, including a neurologist, after an incident in which he appeared to throw a punch at bandmate Dave Navarro during a performance in Boston recently.

In a statement posted on her Instagram on Saturday, Etty addressed the situation, assuring fans that Perry will recover. She wrote: “Kind people attract kindness,” and stressed that, despite the altercation, Perry remains a "very kind" person. She added that both she and Perry were just as “shocked” as anyone by the incident, saying it was "totally out of character" for him.

She added: Beyond grateful and so very humbled we are, to all the dears that have taken the time to send us such beautiful words of love and support - checking in over and over again to make sure we are well taken care of. Offering love and compassion, words of kindness, and even your homes for us to escape to…Like attracts like. Kindness attracts kindness.”

Etty explained that Perry has been under significant stress recently, which contributed to the incident. As part of his recovery, Perry is scheduled to see a neurologist and an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist), although the reasons for the specific medical consultations were not clarified.

She said: “As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls. We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are - but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologize. We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal. Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist.”

She also concluded her message on a positive note, reassuring fans that Perry will return to the stage soon, saying he will ‘share his artistic vision with the world.’

She said: “If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know. With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry - unbridled.

“Make no mistake when he’s ready he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think, while changing the world together. We can rejoice together then. And you will know, we would not have been able to do it without you.”

Following the onstage fight, the band cancelled its US band’s reunion tour and issued a “heartfelt apology” to their fans.
