Christian Richard Dumontet, the estranged husband of ‘Selling Sunet’ star Christine Quinn, has been formally charged with child abuse and endangerment.

Police told American news outlet TMZ on Wednesday (May 8) that Dumontet was charged with three misdemeanors including child abuse/endangerment, assault and violation of a protection order. This came following an incident involving Quinn and their two-year-old son, Christian Georges Dumontet, last year, where the youngster was supposedly injured with glass.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney decided the case did not meet felony filing requirements, however. Quinn’s attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna, told Page Six that they are “extremely satisfied” with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office’s decision.

Sparagna said in a statement: “He (Dumontet) has now been formally charged with child abuse against his two-year-old toddler, assault against Christine Quinn, and for violating a restraining order. We believe this development is a crucial step toward safeguarding the legal and personal interests of both victims and trust that the matter will continue to be handled with the utmost seriousness it deserves.”

Dumontet was arrested on March 19 after he allegedly threw a bag of glass at his wife. However, Quinn claimed the bag missed her and hit their son Christian instead. She has since requested full custody of the child.

He was arrested for a second time just 33 hours later when he ignored the emergency restraining order Quinn has filed against him and returned to their home. As part of the restraining order, Quinn alleged that her estranged husband suffers from serious mental health issues, including bipolar, mania and schizophrenia.

The former reality TV star, aged 35, said she voiced her “dissatisfaction” with their relationship prior to the incident. She claimed he started yelling at her and throwing things, including “heavy floral arrangements”, around the house.

She said: “He narrowly missed hitting me with one of the metal rods, but I was struck by one of boxes he threw. He then opened a can of Red Bull and threw that across the room as well, making more of a mess … and returned a short time later, and threw dog feces at me, which he pulled out of the trash.”

Quinn also alleged that Dumontet “pulled out his penis and began to urinate on the floor.” Quinn claimed she hid in the bathroom with Christian as she was “terrified” for their safety. The following day, Quinn was cleaning up the house when she and Dumontet began arguing again.

She alleged: “While I was working, I heard, and felt the rush of air from an object hurtling towards me and our son. The next instant I heard what sounded like glass breaking.” She then claimed she “saw broken glass in our son’s hair and on the floor,” adding, “after a few seconds our son burst into tears and began screaming. I was concerned about his health and safety.”

Dumontet filed for divorce less than two weeks later on April 5, citing “irreconcilable differences”, and he has also requested full custody of their son. Quinn was introduced to software engineer Dumontet, age 45, by a mutual friend and the pair married in December 2019. The pair welcomed their son in May 2021.

Dumontet has appeared on the Netflix show ‘Selling Sunset’, which follows the lives of realtors who sell million-dollar Beverly Hills homes through the luxury real estate brokerage the Oppenheim Group. Milestone events in the former couple’s lives – such as their engagement party, gothic winter wedding, and jungle-themed baby shower – were all documented in the series.
