“There's nobody like him and there will never be. We all loved him dearly. Rest easy. Please allow family and friends privacy and patience during this difficult time. Love you.”

According to TMZ, Luci4, whose real name was James Dear, died on Sunday, February 22. His cause of death is currently unknown, but his grandparents have said that they are “suspicious” of his death after being found unresponsive at a private residence in LA.

His grandparents told TMZ that his wallet had been emptied and they had recently warned him of the people he had attached himself to after finding fame in the music industry.

The Los Angeles Fire Department first responded to a call at 11:40am but Dear was already deceased by the time they arrived.

A crime scene has been set up by police and an investigation into the 23-year-old’s death has been launched. It is not yet known if law enforcement is considering foul play in his death.

As Luci4, Dear was noted for being a pioneer of the siglikore microgenre, an offshoot of trap music, and also found success with multiple songs.
