It may have only been weeks since Lawrence Chaney brought home the Drag Race UK crown with runway walks, hilarious one liners and general comedic excellence, but season three of the hit show is on the way imminently.

Chaney defeated the popular Bimini Bon Boulash, Tayce, and Dundee’s Ellie Diamond in a final that saw her crowned the UK’s next drag superstar.

The third instalment was confirmed in November 2020 when producers sent out a casting call to potential contestants, and was officially announced when the official Twitter page posted a teaser video that stated the show would be “ru-turning” in the autumn.

But who’s in the full line-up of contestants, and when will you be able to see the next run of the fabulous show?

Here is everything you need to know about it.

Who’s in the cast?

Veronica Green, 35, from Rochdale, is returning to the show after contracting Covid in series 2, having received an open invitation from RuPaul to come back for series 3

Victoria Scone, 27, from Cardiff, is the show’s first cisgender female drag queen, and says she “just wants to entertain people and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Vanity Milan, 29, from South London, has taught dance classes and choreography for Estonian celebrities, having moved to her husband’s home country for a while.

Scarlett Harlett, 26, from East London, has been an extra in films like Rocketman and Absolutely Fabulous, and has “made a fool out of myself on a couple of TV shows too.”

River Medway, 22, from Kent, grew up doing youth theatre, and trained for three years at a performing arts college in musical theatre, so is a formidable all-rounder.

Krystal Versace, 19, from Kent, describes herself as “literally chaos”, and says we should expect “darting about, high kicks, flips, cartwheels, everything” from her performances.

Kitty Scott-Claus, 29, from Birmingham, found her drag name (which is meant to sound like “kitty’s got claws”) after previous monikers like Madonna Kebab and Burger Queen “didn’t stick”.

Ella Vaday, 32, from Dagenham, is one of the more experienced queens on the series, with a long West End career behind her, and jobs as a backing dancer on The X Factor, and roles in Christmas pantos.

Elektra Fence, 29, from Burnley, is trained in ballet, freestyle, disco, ballroom, and Latin (”and I can pole dance too!”), and says her biggest career highlight was doing panto with Darren Day.

Charity Kase, 24, from Lancashire, found fame after setting herself a “365 days of drag” challenge, where she quickly developed a reputation for “really outlandish crazy looks”.

Choriza May, 30, from Newcastle, has the pun-name of the series for our money, and is originally from Spain; she calls herself “Newcastle’s spiciest, meatiest and silliest sausage.”

Anubis, 19, from Brighton, says her dream was always “to be on stage twiddling my hair, and since drag combined all of her passions (“theatre, music, fashion, wigs, singing, dancing, and comedy”) it was a natural career choice.

Who will be the judges?

RuPaul is well connected, meaning Drag Race shows are never short on celeb royalty.

Last year saw a stellar list of guest judges, with Elizabeth Hurley, Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall, Lorraine Kelly, and Dawn French appearing on the show to critique the queens.

However, this year promises to be even bigger and better.

Rumoured to be appearing as guest judges on Drag Race this year are Baby Spice Emma Bunton, Michelle Keegan and even the legendary Sir Elton John has been earmarked to appear via a video link.

Regular judge and longtime partner in crime Michelle Visage is likely to continue alongside Graham Norton and Alan Carr, who have both featured as judges in the opening two seasons.

When can I watch it?

The BBC has confirmed the show will be back in September – but we don’t have an official release date yet.
