Drag Race All Stars 6: who is in the cast with RuPaul and Yara Sofia, UK release date – will it be on Netflix?

The participants in the next series of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars have been revealed.

Drag Race All Stars 6 is set to premiere in the States next month through Paramount Plus, and boasts the largest line-up in All Stars herstory, with a whopping 13 competitors announced to be taking part.

Usually sandwiched between the ‘main’ seasons of Drag Race, series of All Stars are shorter installments of the show that bring back fan favourite competitors from previous series of Drag Race to see who is the best of the best.

Past Drag Race success isn’t necessary to be featured on the show, and oftentimes queens are brought back having performed badly in their seasons, but still having managed to win the hearts of viewers.

Often seen as a chance at redemption, this year’s line-up once again includes some high-profile finalists from previous years, as well as some infamously early exits from earlier series.

In fact, this series of All Stars is shaping up to be something of an All Stars of All Stars, with contestants who have already been put through the drag gauntlet multiple times reappearing to take on the challenge once again.

Participants are competing for a shot at the $100,000 top prize, as well as a coveted place in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame” alongside previous winners.

Here is everything you need to know about it.

Who is in the line-up?

As mentioned, this season of All Stars features 13 contestants, which is the biggest pool of talent any of the All Stars series have had to this point.

The line-up is also notable for being the first on which two openly transgender contestants have taken part.

The first Drag Race contestant to come out as a trans woman during the show, Kylie Sonique Love came ninth on Season 2 of Drag Race, and also appeared on 2018 special, RuPaul’s Drag Race Holi-slay Spectacular.

Pandora Boxx put in one of the most memorable performances in the show’s first ever Snatch Game, which has since gone on to be a firm favourite of every season, and came fifth on Season 2 of Drag Race. She’ll be hoping to put in a better shift than her first All Stars appearance, which saw her become the first queen to be eliminated in the very first season.

Another All Stars alum, Yara Sofia came fourth on Season 3 of Drag Race, where she also won Miss Congeniality.

A drag act with a burgeoning television career – she has appeared in Broad City and in a recurring role in the award-winning ballroom drama, Pose – Jiggly Caliente came eighth on Season 4 of Drag Race, and came out as a trans woman in 2016.

She may have only survived two episodes of Season 5, but Serena ChaCha’s iconic outburst on Drag Race after show Untucked inspired memes and found her a place in many fans’ hearts.

Trinity K Bonet came seventh on Season 6 of Drag Race, and memorably caused RuPaul to tear up when she triumphed in the stand-up comedy challenge.

With All Stars pedigree behind her – she came eighth on Season 2 of All Stars – Ginger Minj is perhaps one of the better known queens on the cast this year. Having tied for second on Season 7 of Drag Race, she went on to appear in RuPaul’s Netflix series AJ and the Queen.

After having to exit Season 9 of Drag Race early due to an injury, Eureka! tied for second on Season 10.

A’Keria C. Davenport is another meme machine (Drag Race fans need only hear “Where is the body?” to be reminded why), who tied for third on Season 11 of Drag Race.

According to her official All Stars bio, Ra’Jah O’Hara is “back with a new attitude, which is sure to get fans intrigued, with the queen known for stirring up drama with other contestants on her way to placing ninth on Season 11 of Drag Race.

Nobody is likely to be green with jealousy over Scarlet Envy’s dancing skills, which were almost hilariously bad on Season 11 of Drag Race, and kept her progressing any further than tenth place, despite being an early series favourite.

Fans were torn over Silky Nutmeg Ganache’s appearance on Season 11 of Drag Race, with some viewers loving her dominatingly loud personality, and others irked by her brash demeanour.

Jan came in eighth on Season 12 of Drag Race and has also competed on The Voice and America’s Got Talent/

Can I watch it in the UK?

While the show will debut on Paramount Plus in the US – having switched from its usual home of VH1 – fans in the UK who weren’t looking forward to having to fork out for another streaming service needn’t worry.

Like almost every previous season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, series six of All Stars will be streaming through Netflix in the UK.

The series will kick off with a double helping of episodes on 24 June, with subsequent episodes debuting each week on Thursdays.

However, given the time difference between the UK and the US, you can expect new episodes of All Stars 6 to be ready to stream on Friday mornings.
