What is After We Fell about?

The latest film begins with Tessa beginning a new chapter in her life as she prepares to move to Seattle for her new job - however, Hardin’s feelings of jealousy and his unpredictable behaviour threaten to tear the two apart.

Their situation becomes increasingly complicated after Tessa’s father comes back into her life, and shocking revelations about Hardin’s family also come to light.

Ultimately the two must decide whether they want to fight for their relationship - or if it’s time to go their separate ways.

Who is in the cast?

After We Fell welcomes back Josephine Langford (Wolf Creek, Moxie) and Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Safe, Cleaning Up) in the titular roles of Tessa and Hardin.

Due to scheduling conflicts and location issues, a number of actors have not returned for After We Fell, with their characters instead recast with other actors.

It will debut on Amazon Prime Video, arriving on Friday 22 October.

You can sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, which gives you access to the Amazon Prime Video collection, as well as other perks like free delivery on selected items.

What are reviews saying?

So far reviews for the film have been less than enthusiastic, with Cath Clarke from The Guardian stating that it has a “tangled mess of plot, daytime-soap acting and inanimate passion”.

She offered the film one out of five stars, and wrote: “If you’re new to the franchise, don’t even bother trying. The script works on the basis that everyone watching has read the books, seen the previous movies and bought the T-shirt.

“No attempt whatsoever is made to introduce us to the tedious tangle of relationships. That said, all you need to know about Tessa and Hardin is that they can’t live without each other.”

AV Club writer Caroline Siede said that though the film has “no plot to speak of” and that “the conflict ostensibly lies in Tessa’s decision to move to Seattle for her new publishing job and the question of whether Hardin will move there to be with her”.

Molly Freeman from Screen Rant also added that “much of the film feels like its checking off a list of scenes from the book and simply trying to fit everything into a 90-minute adaptation”.

Are there other sequels and prequels?

The first film, After, came out in 2019, followed by After We Collided in 2020.

After We Fell is the first of two sequels, and the fourth movie, After Ever Happy, has no confirmed release date yet.

According to Deadline, a new feature prequel and sequel are also in the making.
