The former One Direction star has forged an acting career and speculation has been rife that he will appear in Eternals as Eros

Harry Styles could be set to take of the role of Eros, the brother of Thanos in Marvel movie Eternals.

While the Watermelon Sugar singer is better known for his music, he has made a foray into the world of film in recent years.

There has been speculation he could be poised to appear in Eternals which takes place after events of Endgame, and Variety reported he had joined the cast as Eros. It is thought he appears in a post-credits scene.

If the Golden hitmaker does appear on the big screen in the hotly-anticipated film it would see him join a cast which includes Angelina Jolie and Kit Harrington.

Could Harry Styles play Eros in Eternals?

The star has yet to comment on speculation he will appear in the film, and he does not appear in the final trailer for the film.

However, the part is listed among his filmography on imdb.com.

Styles in not listed on the cast list for the film on the official Marvel site, and there has been nothing to officially confirm if he is in the film.

Has he appeared in a film before?

Styles made his acting debut in Dunkirk which was written, directed and produced by Christopher Nolan. It was released in 2017 and is the highest grossing World War II film.

He will also appear in the forthcoming film My Policeman as Tom Burgess. The romantic drama is set in the 1950s in Brighton. And he takes on the part of Jack in Don’t Worry Darling, which is set for release next year and also stars Florence Pugh.

Who is the character of Eros?

Fans of the Marvel comics will be familiar with Eros. According to Marvel’s website Eros: “grew up on Titan alongside his brother Thanos, embracing all the pleasures that life has to offer. He later becomes Starfox and an official member of the Avengers.”

He is an Eternal, which is a “god-like” race of beings who are virtually immortal.

The character’s biography states that he was born with the ability to stimulate pleasure in others.

However, it goes on to say: “This power has no effect on his mutant older brother, Thanos, who was born with Deviant Syndrome, physically repulsive to his fellows. Thanos grows up to worship the cosmic embodiment of death, and conducts morbid experiments on several Titans.”

Unlike his brother who he has a complicated relationship with, Eros “loves life”, he can also surround himself with a personal force field.

Who else is in the cast of the Marvel movie?

Eternals, which will have its world premiere on November 5, has a host of A-list stars on its cast. Angelina Jolie plays Thena, while Salma Hayek is Ajak.

Taking the role of Ikaris is Game of Thrones and Bodyguard star Richard Madden.

His former GoT co-star Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman/the Black Knight.

The ensemble cast also features Gemma Chan, who played Bess of Hardwick in Mary Queen of Scots, as Sersi.
