Detective adventure sequel Enola Holmes 2, from Fleabag and Killing Eve director Harry Bradbeer boasts an all star cast. The film, set shortly after the first instalment, was filmed in late 2021 and January 2022 in Hull, East Yorkshire. The sequel, which will land on Netflix this week, will see the return of the main cast as well as some new familiar faces.
What is Enola Holmes 2 about?
The action sequel finds Enola Holmes now working as a detective-for-hire as she opens her own agency - after waiting unsuccessfully for the work to come pouring in, Enola is about to shut up shop when she is offered her first official case - a penniless young girl asks her to find her missing sister.

As Enola delves deeper into the mystery, she begins to untangle a conspiracy that she will need the help of her friends and big brother Sherlock, to resolve. On her investigations, Enola travels through London’s murky factories and music halls, and to 221B Baker Street.
Who is in the cast of Enola Holmes 2?
Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes
Millie Bobby Brown returns as the eponymous detective - after establishing herself as a successful sleuth in the first film by saving a marquis and tracking down her mother, Enola is now ready to take on her first official case. Brown is best known for playing Eleven in the hit sci-fi series Stranger Things, and also played Madison Russell in Godzilla: King of Monsters and its sequel Godzilla vs. Kong.

Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock needs no introduction, but in this film the infamous consulting detective takes a back seat as his younger sister proves she’s just as capable a sleuth. Cavill is a well-known film star having played Superman in the DC Extended Universe - Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Justice League. His other film roles include playing Solo in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and August Walker in Mission: Impossible - Fallout. He also plays Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher but is controversially being replaced after season three.

Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes
Eudoria is Enola, Sherlock, and Mycroft’s mother, and after being tracked down in the first film will return in the sequel to offer her daughter a helping hand. Carter is synonymous with her role as the evil witch Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter franchise. Her other roles include playing Queen Elizabeth in The King’s Speech, Marla Singer in Fight Club, and Princess Margaret in season three and four of The Crown.

Thewlis is a new cast member for the sequel, though the role he will play is as yet unknown. Thewlis is another Harry Potter alum, having played Remus Lupin in the franchise. He has also appeared in The Theory of Everything, Macbeth (2015), Legend, and Wonder Woman. He played John Dee in fantasy series The Sandman and voiced Lionel St. Swithens in adult animated comedy series Human Resources.


Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury
Tewkesbury, the young hereditary peer who was saved by Enola in the first film will also return in the sequel. Partridge appeared as G-Man in Paddington 2 and Peter Pan in fantasy drama The Lost Girls. He also played Sid Vicious in the Sex Pistols biopic series Pistol and Piero in Medici.


Adeel Akhtar as Lestrade
Lestrade is an inspector from Scotland Yard who helped to find Enola in the first film. Akhtar played Faisal in the comedy film Four Lions - he has also starred as Hassan Mahmoud in Unforgotten, Thénardier in Les Misérables, and Martin in Killing Eve. One of his more recent roles was playing Andy Fisher in crime drama Sherwood.
