The Adam Project, a brand new and much-awaited Netflix original, is set to be released on Netflix this month.

The sci-fi adventure story follows a time-travelling fighter pilot who teams up with his 12-year-old self on a mission to save the future after accidentally crash-landing in 2022.

The Netflix original is directed by Shawn Levy, known for previously directing the Night at the Museum movie series.

This is Levy and Ryan Reynolds’ second film together after Free Guy, which was directed and produced by Levy, and starred Reynolds in the lead role.

Here’s everything you need to know about the film.

What happens in The Adam Project?

The plot, which also highlights the bond between father and son, follows Adam Reed as a fighter pilot from the future who travels back in time and meets his younger self.

A 12-year-old Adam, who is grieving the sudden death of his father a year earlier, walks into his garage one night to find a wounded pilot hiding there. This mysterious pilot turns out to be the older version of himself from the future.

Both young and grown-up Adam embark on an adventure into the past to save the world.

However, they soon discover that they don’t like each other very much, and if they’re going to save the world, they must first figure out how to get along.

Young Adam finds it difficult to come to terms with his father’s death, whilst older Adam has learned to deal with his dad’s absence from his life.

Together they come to terms with the loss of their father and have a chance to heal the wounds that have shaped them.
