On Instagram, the 25-year-old actor shared two pictures from the set, the first being a picture of himself wearing a brown tophat, crushed red velvet jacket and multicoloured patterned scarf, and the second what appears to be the brass top of a walking stick with a little present perched on top.

In the caption, Chalamet quoted the character by writing: “The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last…”

He shared the same picture of himself on Twitter, but simply captioned the tweet “WONKA” with two star emojis and a chocolate bar emoji too.

Production company Warner Bros also shared the pictures on Instagram and Twitter.
