Fans are awaiting the next seasonal update to the popular Battle Royale game, Fortnite.

The game receives weekly updates that bring new content additions and tweak glitches and other bugs, but every couple of months, a bigger update is rolled out in the form of a new “Season”, which can often drastically change the way the game plays.

Players are currently blasting their way through Season 6 of the game’s Chapter 2 iteration, but Season 6 has been around for a while now, so it’s time to start looking to the future.

What will Season 7’s theme be?

Fornite’s regular season updates are also themed heavily around a central idea.

One season may introduce water-based gameplay elements, while the next might revolve heavily around an espionage aesthetic.

So what can we expect Season 7 to look like?

The theme of Season 7 is as yet unconfirmed, but we do have a few clues as to what to expect, thanks to a number of quests that have been uncovered by dataminers.

Datamines pour through the game’s code in an effort to spot hints and signs of content updates Epic Games are working on, and which may be implemented at some point in the future of Fortnite.

They’re usually fairly reliable in their findings, so while these so-called “Foreshadowing Quests” have not been confirmed by any official sources, it certainly would not be a surprise to see them show up in the game in the next few weeks.

The quests – which have been corroborated by a number of datamining sources – seem to task players with errands like investigating a downed black helicopter, or placing warning signs at crop circles.

This hints at a conspiratorial theme for the next iteration of the game, and with NPC dialogue also leaked – including that of Fortnite’s resident in-universe conspiracy theorist Bunker Jonesy – also pointing at a supernatural theme, it looks like there will be some strange goings on come Season 7.

On top of this, it's been said that Fortnite’s relationship with Marvel – which has seen many of the comic book empire’s characters make appearances in the game – is set to run for “many” years, so expect more MCU crossovers going forward.

Will there be an end of season event?

Fortnite’s seasons often end in spectacular fashion, with in-game events that have (virtual) world-changing consequences on how the game’s map looks and plays.

These large-scale happenings are usually viewable in a passive mode of the game, but although they take place ‘live’, hints and clues as to what is going to happen can often be found by dataminers in the days leading up to them.

As yet, there are no such rumours as to what the seasonal changeover into Fortnite’s seventh season might be – or even if there will be one – but seeing as every season in recent memory has had some sort of bookmarking event, it would be a surprise if there wasn’t one.

How will the map change?

As mentioned, end-of-season events usually trigger vast changes to the world of Fortnite, erasing old locations and bringing in new designs to keep the game feeling fresh.

As yet, we’ve no idea just how the map might look after whatever the developers have got planned for the climax of Season 6. We’ll add more information in to this article as and when we get it.

What will be new in Season 7?

Again, dataminers usually have us pretty well equipped with information ahead of a new season, but so far, there's been nothing concrete to suggest the kinds of changes to the game we could see with Season 7.

If and when more clues and secrets are uncovered, we’ll update this article with all that we know!

When will Season 7 start?

Epic Games themselves have suggested that Fortnite in its current guise will come to an end on Monday 7 June.

That’s according to the in-game Battle Pass screen, but it's unlikely a new season would start on a Monday – new seasons usually drop a little later in the week, so while that week might well be when the new season begins, don’t count on it being on the Monday.

Then, there’s always the chance that unexpected delays push Season 7’s release back, and Epic is forced to extend the ongoing Season 6 through “overtime”.

This has happened a number of times in the past, so it’s certainly not unheard of, though such delays are usually offset by new challenges and rewards that keep players entertained while they’re waiting for the next update.

How much will the Battle Pass cost?

Don't expect any changes to Fornite’s pricing model when it comes to purchasing Season 7’s Battle Pass.

Purchasing one will allow you to unlock additional rewards throughout the season, and will cost you 950 V-Bucks (the game’s in-game currency).

The smallest bundle of V-Bucks you can buy is 1,000 and currently costs £6.49.
