When does the FIFA 22 companion app release? Date and time FUT app comes out in the UK - and how to get it

FIFA 22 is just around the corner, and as we get closer to the game’s release, we’re getting regular tantalising glimpses of everything from player stats to new features.

The game is usually a must-buy for footballing fans, but how will it fare this year?

What’s new, and are there enough changes to warrant picking up a copy of FIFA in 2021?

Here is everything you need to know.

When was the web app released?

The FIFA 22 Companion App was released on Wednesday 22 September for PC. It was then available on mobile devices the following day, Thursday 23 September.

The Companion App allows players to manage their Ultimate Teams while away from the main game, and through the mobile app, even while on the move.

You’ll be able to open packs you’ve earned for FIFA 22’s Ultimate Team mode before the game is even released.

You can download the FUT 22 Web App on your iOS or Android device, completely free of charge.

When is FIFA 22 released?

FIFA 22 will be released on Friday 1 October.

It will be available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia.

What’s new in FIFA 22?

Though each year’s iteration of the FIFA series presents an authentic virtual representation of football, the developers do go out of their way to add in new features with each new edition.

The biggest addition is perhaps “HyperMotion”, an animation system which hopes to make players’ on-pitch movements appear more lifelike and fluid.

It works by combining motion-captured animation and machine learning, to produce fluid animations in a number of situations, so that everything from your players’ strides to their cadence of their runs looks more realistic.

In terms of non-visual upgrades, EA Sports have rewritten the intelligence and tactical approach of all 22 players on the pitch, emphasising their roles, personality, and teamwork.

Then there’s the new Explosive Sprint feature, which rewards timing, giving players a more noticeable acceleration when the Sprint button is pressed at just the right time, allowing dribblers to explode forward and leave markers behind.

The physics of the game’s virtual ball have also been tweaked, to improve the authenticity of ball speed, swerve, air drag, air resistance, ground friction, and rolling friction, and new attacking tactics have been added to enable players to have more control over playstyles and team behaviours.

How can I play FIFA 22 early?

If you can’t wait until 1 October 2021, to get your hands on the game, there are a number of ways fans can get their hands on it early.

The first way is by signing up for EA Play, which will give you a 10-hour play trial of the full game ahead of release, starting from Wednesday 22 September.

EA Play on PlayStation, Xbox and Windows is £3.99 per month or £19.99 per year.

Another way is by pre-ordering the Ultimate Edition, which costs £89.99; the higher price gets you the game four days early, along with a number of Ultimate Team items and upgrades.
