Inside No 9 season 7: release date of new BBC series 2022 and cast with Diane Morgan and Steve Pemberton

Anthology series, Inside No 9, is back on BBC Two for its seventh season with more new faces

The seventh series is guaranteed to bring fans more dark humour from co-writers Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith.

Diane Morgan, from Netflix’s After Life, joins for the first episode with Pemberton and Shearsmith.

The crew began filming the twisted tales of the new season in September 2021 and like other seasons - each episode of Inside No 9 is linked only by the number nine and a brass hare statue.

When is season 7 of Inside No 9 released?

BBC Two will air the first episode of season seven at 10pm on Wednesday 20 April.

The episode will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

The half-hour episodes will continue to air weekly on a Wednesday.

Like the other six seasons, there will be six episodes.

What is Inside No 9 about?

Inside No 9 is a British dark comedy anthology series.

Each episode sees a new cast, and is linked only by the number nine and a brass hare statue.

The stories explore dark themes and occur inside a mansion, a dressing room or a flat numbered nine.

Inside No 9 first aired in 2014 - the first episode of season one saw Rebecca (Katherine Parkinson) and Jeremy (Ben Willbond) hold an engagement party at Rebecca’s family’s mansion.

The last episode of season six saw Dawn (Sarah Parish) and Mick (Steve Pemberton) hosting their annual Last Night of the Proms party.

Episode one of the new season sees Laurence (Reece Shearsmith) arrange a special reunion on a boat for his old university friends.

Who is in the cast of Inside No 9 with Diane Morgan?

Each episode of Inside No 9 features an almost entirely different cast.

However, co-writers Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith have featured in every episode except one.

Pemberton and Shearsmith also co-wrote and featured in both The League of Gentlemen and Psychoville.

Pemberton is known for his roles in ITV’s Benidorm, BBC’s Killing Eve and BBC’s recent adaptation of Worzel Gummidge.

Shearsmith is known for his roles in CBBC’s Horrible Histories and The Cottage (2008).

His voice also features in the recent adaptation of The Adventures of Paddington.

Episode one of season seven, ‘Merrily Merrily’, features Mark Gatuss (BBC’s Sherlock and Dracula), Diane Morgan (Netflix’s After Life and BBC’s Motherland) and Patrice Naiambana (James Bond’s Spectre and Nina and the Neurons).

It has also been confirmed that Annette Badland (1990’s series Midsomer Murders) will feature in episode two of the new season, ‘Mr King’.

Previously featured on the show were Miranda Hennessy (Pramface), Jill Halfpenny (EastEnders, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road), Tazmin Outhwaite (EastEnders and New Tricks), Mark Benton (Barbara and Waterloo Road), and Dan Starkey (Doctor Who).
