The second Eurovision Song Contest 2024 semi-final takes place later today (May 9 2024) at the Malmo Arena in Sweden, amidst the backdrop of pro-Palestine demonstrations and an increased police presence in the event of more protests.
These come ahead of Israel’s Eden Golda taking to the stage this evening for the chance to have Israel make their way once again to the Eurovision Grand Final, with her song “Hurricane” said to be a reworking of an early track “October Rain,” thought to be a reference to the attack by Hamas.

That honour goes to our old friend Joost Klein with his song “Europapa,” with the Netherlands the overwhelming favourite to advance at 1/500, while the odds for them to win this evening event is scaled down to 1/2; Switzerland’s Nemo and Greece’s Marina Satti round off the top three favourites to advance.
Meanwhile, Israel sits just behind Netherlands and Switzerland as the third favourites to win this evening’s semi-final, with Armenia’s entry in a strong position as an outside bet on winning the semi-final at odds of 25/1.
