Madonna has been forced to postpone her ‘Celebration Tour’ that marked her four decades as an artist after she was admitted to the intensive care unit for several days while fighting a ‘serious bacterial infection’.

As the news came to light about the seriousness of the Queen of Pop’s health after she was reportedly found unconscious in New York last weekend, her family revealed they initially thought they would ‘lose her’.

According to the MailOnline, a source said: “For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn and her family was preparing for the worst. That was why it was kept a secret since Saturday. Everyone believed that we may lose her and that has been the reality of the situation.”

With the 64-year-old tipped to make a full recovery following the ‘serious wake up call’, all thoughts turn to her family that will gather round to support her back to health. PeopleWorld takes a look at who they are:

How many children does Madonna have?

Throughout the 40 years Madonna has been in the spotlight, she has shared glimpses of her family on social media, namely her six children.

Madonna has welcomed two biological children from two different partners and adopted four other children to complete her family.

The ‘Like A Virgin’ hitmaker first gave birth to Lourdes Leon with her personal trainer Carlos Leon in 1996 and has paved the way for the 26-year-old who has pursued her own music career under the name Lolahol in addition to modelling.

Shortly after the birth of Lourdes, Madonna welcomed her second biological child with filmmaker Guy Ritchie during their eight-year marriage. Rocco Ritchie has maintained a good relationship with both his parents despite their historic custody battle and has been spotted hanging out with the likes of Brooklyn Beckham.

While Madonna’s kids will support their mother as she fights the bacterial infection, the pop icon fought for her children’s passions when they were younger as seen by her moving to Portugal in 2017 so her adopted son David Banda could chase his dreams of becoming a professional football player by joining a junior academy.

Madonna previously suggested to British Vogue that she has the most in common with David, but is also super close with her adopted daughter Mercy after opening a hospital named after her in her birth country Malawi in addition to her twins Stella and Esther who joined the family in 2017.

What is Madonna’s net worth?

With Madonna, her family and team focused on making a full recovery, it was announced that all commitments including her 12th concert tour namely the ‘Celebration Tour’ would be put on pause.

The tour that saw Madonna set to play four sold-out nights in London’s O2 marked 40 years since her first breakout single ‘Holiday’ which in turn led to Madonna becoming the best-selling female artist in history with around 335 million records sold worldwide.

It must be mentioned however, that Madonna’s astronomical music career is only part of the Queen of Pop’s net worth as her $100 million art collection including works from Frida Khalo and Picasso, her film salaries and business pursuits all add up.

In terms of acting work, Madonna has reportedly earned north of $10 million for films such as her critically acclaimed ‘Evita’, ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’ and ‘Body of Evidence’ to name a few, with the star also picking up her entire wardrobe from the latter production and an award for the first mentioned.

Madonna has added a couple of directing and producing credits to her resume for the documentary ‘I Am Because We Are’ and the film ‘Filth and Wisdom’ while most recently appearing on the soundtrack for The Idol.

In addition to her books, with ‘Sex’ selling 1.5 million copies at $50 each, her entertainment company Maverick which was bought by Warner Studios in 2004, her fashion partnerships and endorsements with Pepsi and Dolce and Gabbana to name but just a few, Madonna has $80 million worth of real estate.

All of these add up to Madonna being worth an estimated $850 million.
