Severance, a new thriller from Apple TV+, is set to begin on Friday 18 February 2022.

The series, which stars Adam Scott, is a sci-fi workplace thriller, set in a corporation where employees work and non-work memories are separated from one another.

Here’s everything you need to know about Severance.

What is it about?

Severance is a sci-fi thriller that’s about, essentially, work-life balance – employees at Lumon Industries have their memories of their work and personal lives surgically separated, never aware of what they do at one while they’re in the middle of the other.

As the series unfolds, employee Mark (Adam Scott) begins to realise the toll that this process takes on Lumon Industries workers – and exactly the kind of work the mysterious corporation is having him do.

Who is in it?

The series stars Adam Scott as Mark. You’ll probably recognise Scott primarily from his comedy roles, for example Parks and Recreation or The Good Place, but he’s also got form as a dramatic actor – he played Reese Witherspoon’s husband in HBO drama Big Little Lies, for example.

He’s joined by Britt Lower, who plays Helly. Lower is best known for starring in Man Seeking Woman and Unforgettable.

Christopher Walken (The Outlaws), John Tuturro (The Big Lebowski), and Patricia Arquette (Escape at Dannemora) all star in Severance as well.

Six of Severance’s nine episodes were directed by Ben Stiller. Stiller is best known as an actor (with roles in Zoolander, Night at the Museum, and The Meyerowitz Stories), however he has also directed a number of times previously (with Tropic Thunder, Zoolander, Reality Bites amongst such credits).

Is there a trailer?

Yes, there is. You can see it – and Adam Scott paring back some of the mysteries of Lumon Industries – right here.

When and how can I watch it?

Severance will begin on Apple TV+ on February 18.

The first two episodes will be available at once, and the series will continue weekly after that through till April. Severance is 9 episodes in total.

Why should I watch it?

Because it looks like an engaging sci-fi drama with a clever hook - one that’s particularly relevant under late-capitalism. Plus, it’s got a great cast too.
