Emily in Paris proved to be the escapism everyone desired when it dropped on Netflix in November 2020.

The comedy drama ranked fourth on Netflix last year, with a whopping 58 million households tuning in to see what all the fuss was about.

With a second season of the show debuting on Netflix on 22 December, interest in Emily’s cultural fish out of water antics is peaking once more.

Some fans will even have been able to binge their way through the entire season just a few short days after its release - they’ll be wondering if there are any more episodes to look forward to, especially after the second series’ cliffhanger ending.

So, will there be a Season 3 of Emily in Paris, and if so, when might we expect to see it on screens?

Here is everything you need to know.

Will there be a Season 3 of Emily in Paris?

At the time of writing, Netflix has unfortunately yet to comment on whether a third season of Emily in Paris has been green-lit.

However, judging by the events at the tail end of Season 2, another series is all but confirmed, and fans would be right to be disappointed if the show’s loose ends are never tied up.

The first series proved to be surprisingly popular despite its lukewarm critical reception, and if the second season is able to replicate any of the first’s success, Netflix will likely be keen to develop a third outing.

On the week of its release, the first series of Emily in Paris made it onto the top ten list of the most watched streaming shows on any platform, and remained in Netflix UK’s top 10 for 40 consecutive days after its release.

Earlier this year, Netflix revealed that the first series had been watched by 58 million households in the month after its debut.

Fans shouldn’t be disheartened that Netflix have not yet given word on the future of the show.

Though some of its blockbuster offerings (The Witcher for example) are often green-lit for multiple future seasons at a time, it’s not uncommon for the streaming giant to wait a while on its smaller shows.

There will likely be cast contracts to negotiate, as well as a wait to see if Season 2 proves popular enough to warrant a third.

When could Season 3 of Emily in Paris be released?

Until the existence of Emily in Paris Season 3 is either confirmed or denied by Netflix, it’s hard to say when - if at all - we’ll be seeing the third series on our screens.

However, given the time gap between the first two series, we can hazard a pretty educated guess as to when it might appear.

There were 507 days between the launch of the first season and the second. 507 days from the release date of Season 2 (22 December 2022) would take us to 14 May 2023.

So our best guess is that, were Season 3 of Emily in Paris to materialise, we could expect it on our screens around May 2023.
