Ahead of Aaron Chalmers' big exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather, how have some of the original Geordie Shore cast members parlayed their reality fame into careers?

It’s a big weekend for boxing and if the Jake Paul versus Tommy Fury fight wasn’t enough to satisfy a bloodlust, then perhaps Saturday evening’s exhibition match between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Aaron Chalmers might help settle you into a weekend of combat.

Aaron Chalmers? Do you mean that guy from the MTV reality series Geordie Shore? Yes, that very same individual, who since leaving the show forged a burgeoning career as a mixed martial artist. His record wasn’t too bad either, having five wins and two losses to his name, one of which was by decision, and competed for Bellator MMA - seen as the closest rival to the stranglehold UFC has on the combat sport.

He decided to call time on his MMA career in 2021, however after Floyd Mayweather Jr’s original opponent, kickboxer Liam Harrison, had to pull out due to injury, somehow Aaron Chalmers ended up being the former Boxing world champion’s opponent instead. It’s an exhibition bout, before we go any further - it’s not going to tarnish the reputation of either man. We hope anyway.

It’s an unusual way to welcome Aaron Chalmers back into the public eye after the former Geordie Shore had been away from the cameras since 2020’s appearance on Geordie Shore: Their Story. As we are about to find out, it seems that Chalmers and other cast members from the MTV reality series seemed to follow a similar path to what the original housemates forged when the series debuted in 2011.

That being a lot of additional appearances on reality television shows, bit parts in comedy series and generally making appearances across student bars during freshers’ weeks across the United Kingdom. But some of the OG cast members have managed to carve a nice little niche since coming to fame on MTV.

Peopleworld can therefore present an ever so brief overview of the resumes of some of the original members of MTV’s Geordie Shore, as we wish Aaron Chalmers the best of luck in his bout. Somehow, we think he might need it going up against Money Mayweather.

Where is the original Geordie Shore cast now?

Switch on to BBC Three or BBC iPlayer and you can still watch Charlotte Crosby to this day; she is currently the host of a ten-part docuseries, Charlotte In Sunderland, based on her personal life in her home city of Sunderland. It is one of the numerous television projects Crosby picked up after leaving the MTV Europe reality series.

Crosby picked up small screen jobs not too dissimilar from Geordie Shore, appearing on Ex On The Beach, Celebrity Come Dine With Me and the Australian version I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! She also managed to find time to release a fitness DVD, host her own (short-lived) talk show and even launched her own fashion line she named after herself.

That should read Gary Beadle-MvCey, after marrying Emma Beadle-McVey in 2021 and having two daughters with her. The pair were recently in the news this year after Gaz disclosed that his wife had suffered a collapsed lung after an operation on her heart.

Personal life aside, Beadle picked up a few odd guest appearances on This Morning and Drunk History, but really was a mainstay for MTV appearing in Ex On The Beach, Spring Break With Grandad, Geordie Shore OGs and even a stint on Hell’s Kitchen Australia in 2017. He even came in as a runner-up, despite being under the stern eye of chef Marco Pierre White.

Vicky Pattison was another Geordie Shore OG who parlayed her reality television career into presenting roles, becoming a regular fixture on This Morning as their showbiz reporter between 2018 and 2020. She also headed down under to appear in Season 4 of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia where she placed fourth overall.

She teamed up with fellow Geordies Ant and Dec in 2020 as a guest presenter on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway but two years later released the poignant documentary Vicky Pattison: Alcohol and Me on Channel 4 as she confronted her relationship with alcohol and spoke out about the devastating impact that addiction and alcohol has had on those around her

Holly Hagan

Much like her other Geordie Shore OG’s, Holly remained firmly on the small screens in mostly reality television roles, which included Celebrity Storage Hunters UK (during a time Storage Hunters reigned supreme as a daytime television essential) and a more serious role presenting Holly Hagan: Taking On The Trolls.

Cyberbullying has been quite the rollercoaster ride for Hagan, who discovered last year that one of those making vile comments on social media towards her was, in fact, a friend of her father’s. She’s been incredibly open about her experiences with online trolls, even going as far as to meet one face-to-face as part of the television show.

We’ve noticed a theme looking at some of the lives of the Geordie Shore OGs - seems they still gravitate towards reality television come what may. This goes for Sophie Kasaei, who long-time Geordie Shore fans will remember was booted from the series in 2013 after using a racial slur off camera. She did return however in 2016 and then once more in 2022.

She made an appearance on Charlotte Crosby’s television series Just Tattoo Of Us, followed by being yet another Geordie Shore cast member to feature on Ex On The Beach, before leaving the North East shores for greener pastures - down south to join the cast of The Only Way Is Essex earlier this year.
