ITV sitcom Kate & Koji is returning for a second season
and live on Freeview channel 276
Kate & Koji follows Kate, a working-class woman who manages an old-fashioned seaside café - or caff as she prefers to call it -, and Koji, an African doctor who is seeking asylum.
The sitcom finds humour in the clash of cultures but sees that Kate and Koji are more alike than either would care to admit.

In the first season the pair begin a somewhat volatile but earnest friendship.
As Koji is unable to work due to his asylum seeker status, he becomes an unofficial resident GP at Kate’s café, offering medical advice for free and helping to fill the ailing café with customers.
Season two will see Koji still waiting to find if his asylum application has been granted, after more than a year of going through the process.
Kate will still be working at the café but will also enter politics, as she runs in the Seagate election.

Brenda Blethyn as Kate

Blethyn is best known for her role as obsessed and troubled detective Vera Stanhope in the North East crime drama Vera.
Blethyn has also has had film roles as Mrs. Bennett in Pride and Prejudice and Grace Turner in Atonement.


Okorie Chukwu as Koji
Chukwu is taking over from Jimmy Akingbola as Koji for the second season, as Akingbola had a scheduling conflict with his commitments for the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot.
Chuckwu has starred in several shorts and appeared in one episode of the 2021 War of the Worlds TV series.

He also played PC Alistair Fulford in one episode of the first season of Luther alongside Idris Elba.
Blake Harrison as Medium
Harrison rose to fame after playing Neil in hit teen comedy series The Inbetweeners. He is reprising his role as Medium, Kate’s nephew and part of the furniture at the café.
Harrison also played Stan Raddings in three episodes of the war drama World on Fire, and Colonel Svenska in comedy drama The Great.


Barbara Flynn as Councillor Lavinia Bone
Flynn is known for her role Judith Fitzgerald in the crime series Cracker with Robbie Coltraine and the TV movie of the same name.

Flynn also played Aunt Hermione in The Durrells, appeared in the ninth season of Death in Paradise and has guest starred in Doctor Who.
Will there be guest stars in season two?
It wouldn’t be a British sitcom without a host of guest stars to pop in each episode.
Susie Blake who played Bev Unwin in Coronation Street and Hillary Nicholson in Mrs. Brown’s Boys is set to appear.
Claire Skinner who starred as stressed out mum Sue in Outnumbered opposite Hugh Dennis will also have a role.

Chizzy Akudolu who played Mo Effanga in Holby City for five years, and Martin Marquez, known for playing Paul Franks in The Job Lot are also set to guest star.
Where is Kate & Koji filmed?
The sitcom is filmed in Herne Bay, a seaside town on the north coast of Kent.
Frasiers Pie and Mash Shop, a real venue in Herne Bay stands in for the shows seaside café.
Other Herne Bay locations that can be spotted in the show include The Divers Arms pub and Herne Bay pier and promenade.

The second season of the show will air on ITV on 16 March at 9pm.
The season will contain six 30-minute episodes which will be released in weekly instalments
