Who is Kit Harrington?
Kit Harrington is a 35 year old actor from West London and is best known for his role as Jon Snow (not the broadcaster or physician) in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones.
He has also appeared in several blockbuster films including Marvel’s Eternals, Pompeii, and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

His other TV credits include appearances in historical drama series Gunpowder, psychological thriller series Criminal: UK, and Amazon Prime romantic comedy show Modern Love.
Harrington’s upcoming roles include an as yet untitled Game of Thrones spin-off sequel series which will follow Jon Snow on his travels north of the Wall.
He is also due to star in the upcoming crime film Blood for Dust, and biographical drama Mary’s Monster, where he will play Frankenstein’s monster.

What did Kit Harrington’s grandfather do in the Second World War?
Harington discovered in My Grandparents’ War that his paternal grandfather John was in charge of one of the most controversial spy operations of the 20th century.

John’s role was to surveil the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to make sure that the former King who had abdicated from the throne in 1935 was not secretly in league with the Nazis.
It was during this assignment that John met Harrington’s grandmother, Lavender who was working as a codebreaker in Bermuda.
Harrington’s maternal grandfather, Mick, was an officer in the Royal Artillery and saw action in the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy in 1944.
Mick’s wife, Pippa, served as senior nurse in Exeter during the war but left the profession when the conflict ended.
