Outer Range, a new mystery thriller starring Josh Brolin, is set to begin on Amazon Prime on Friday 15 April.

The series follows a Wyoming rancher who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of the wilderness after a chance encounter with a drifter - drawing him into a fight for his family and for his land.

What is Outer Range about?

Outer Range is about a Wyoming rancher called Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin). A chance encounter with drifter Autumn (Imogen Poots) sees Royal Abbott dragged into a supernatural mystery much bigger than himself.

The official synopsis reveals that “an untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, and seemingly small-town, soil-bound troubles come to a head with the arrival of a mysterious black void in the Abbotts’ west pasture.”

Who is in the cast of Outer Range?

Josh Brolin stars as Royal Abbott (a fantastic name). Brolin is a prolific actor, with his career stretching back to 1985’s The Goonies; he’s appeared in films such as W., Inherent Vice, Sicario, and Dune, and is particularly well-known for playing Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Imogen Poots (another fantastic name) stars as Autumn. You’ll recognise Poots from roles in films such as 28 Weeks Later, The Look of Love, and The Father, as well as television series Roadies and I Know This Much Is True.

They’re joined by Will Patton (Yellowstone), Tom Pelphrey (Iron Fist), Lili Taylor (Say Anything…), Morningstar Angeline (Army of the Dead), and Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek) amongst others.

Who writes and directs Outer Range?

Outer Range was created by Brian Watkins, and is his first credited writing job. Zev Borow (Chuck, Lethal Weapon) and Heather Rae (Tallulah, I Believe In Unicorns) join him as writers and executive producers.

Lawrence Trilling (Goliath, Snowfall), Amy Seimetz (Atlanta, She Dies Tomorrow), Alonso Ruizpalacios (Narcos: Mexico), and Jennifer Getzinger (Westworld, Daredevil) direct two episodes each.
