A look at Sofía Vergara exes, son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara and net worth as she splits from Joe Manganiello

They were Hollywood’s hottest couple but Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello have announced they are separating and planning to divorce after seven years of marriage. 

The pair got engaged on Christmas Eve 2015 after dating for just six months and married less than a year later in Palm Beach, Florida. A source reportedly claimed they tried for a baby after the wedding but 'they both have come to the conclusion that they're too old'. The couple were last seen together last month in Hoboken, N.J., as Sofia visited him on the set of his new project 'Nonnas'.

In a joint statement the pair told Page Six “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

Sofia, 51, is a Columbian-American actress best known for her role as the glamorous younger wife, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC TV series Modern family. In 2020 Forbes named her the highest paid TV star thanks to Modern Family and America’s Got Talent with $43 million. 

According to Variety the actress was one of five of the cast to sign a deal to be paid $500,000 per episode for Modern Family. She has an estimated net worth of $180 million as of 2023. 

She has been named as the ‘sexiest woman alive’ many times but that doesn’t mean her love-life has been like a romantic storyline. Sofia has been married twice, engaged three times and had a court battle over frozen embryos.  

At the age of 18 Sofia married high-school sweetheart Joe Gonzalez. They were married for just two years and welcomed their son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara in 1991. 

Sofia’s only child, Manolo, 31, is an upcoming actor and film director. He had a small role in the movie ‘Hot Pursuit’ which starred his mother and Reese Witherspoon. 

Speaking to Regis & Kelly in 2010, Sofia revealed she named her son after a character from Scarface played by Steven Bauer as she was a huge fan of the film. Manolo has also created a line of dog beds, clothes and other accessories called Canini.

The pair are reportedly still close with Sofia telling Parade that when the businessman visits the US he stays with her. Joe went on to remarry and have two more children according to The News. 

Sofia dated businessman Nick Loeb for four years; the former couple were engaged but called time on their relationship in 2014. But sadly it didn't end there in 2017 three years after they split, Nick sought full custody of the embryos, meaning in theory he would be able to have them implanted in someone, and children could be born as a result.

Sofia had to file legal papers to block him from accessing frozen embryos they had stored at the ART Reproductive Centre in Beverly Hills. The judge turned down his appeal after a four year battle in March 2021.
