Season 2 of The Witcher debuted on Netflix on 17 December 2021, and has once again been enthralling audiences with another series of epic fantasy episodes based on the best-selling series penned by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Critics and fans seem to be in agreement that series two is even better than the first season, and plans are already afoot for a third instalment, as well as a variety of spin-offs.

Superman himself, Henry Cavill returned to the title role in the second season.

But who else appears on screen beside him?

Henry Cavill is Geralt of Rivia

Outside of The Witcher, Britain’s own Cavill is known for his portrayal of Charles Brandon in The Tudors between 2007 and 2010, DC Comics character Superman in the DC Extended Universe, and Sherlock Holmes in the 2020 Netflix film, Enola Holmes.

Cavill began his career with roles in feature adaptations of The Count of Monte Cristo and I Capture the Castle, and later portrayed supporting roles in several television series, including BBC’s The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and ITV’s Midsomer Murders.

Freya Allan is Princess Cirilla ‘Ciri’ of Cintra

At just 20-years old, Freya Allan’s co-starring role in The Witcher is one of her first major credits.

The English actress has also appeared as young Sam in the 2021 film Gunpowder Milkshake, and played a minor role in the first episode of the 2019 BBC drama The War of the Worlds earlier in her career.

Anya Chalotra is Yennefer of Vengerberg

Another relative newcomer to acting, at 25-years old, Chalotra - from Staffordshire - has starred in several stage productions, outside of The Witcher, including Much Ado About Nothing.

Joey Batey is Jaskier

As the show’s travelling bard, an actor, musician, singer and songwriter Joey Batey performed the songs ‘Toss a Coin to Your Witcher’, ‘The Fishmonger's Daughter’ and ‘Her Sweet Kiss’ for the show, as well as ‘Burn Butcher Burn’, ‘Whoreson Prison Blues’, and ‘The Golden One’ for the second season of the show.

In terms of acting, Batey has also appeared in 2017’s Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool.

MyAnna Buring is Tissaia de Vries

Outside of The Witcher, Swedish-born actress MyAnna Buring known for her roles in The Twilight Saga and Ripper Street, and has also appeared in Midsomer Murders and Casualty.

In 2012, Buring joined the cast of Downton Abbey, playing the role of the maid Edna Braithwaite in that year’s Christmas special episode and the fourth season.

She also provided her voice for The Witcher video game, although she played a different character to the one she portrays in the Netflix show.

Mimî M. Khayisa is Fringilla Vigo

British–Zimbabwean actress Mimî M. Khayisa has also appeared as Tilly Brockless in the television series Mr Selfridge, and has appeared on film in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Cinderella and The Legend of Tarzan.

Eamon Farren is Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach

Australian actor Farren came to prominence for portraying Richard Horne in the 2017 revival of Twin Peaks, but began his career in 2001 television film The Outsider, starring Naomi Watts.

Since then he has starred in a number of Australian television series, and in 2015, Farren won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) award for Best Guest Or Supporting Actor in a Television Drama.

English actress Anna Shaffer is also known for her roles as Ruby Button in teen soap opera Hollyoaks and Romilda Vane - the fourth year student who tried to use a love potion on Harry - in the Harry Potter film series.

Royce Pierreson is Istredd

Cornwalls Royce Pierreson is perhaps best known for known for his role as Reece in BBC Three’s Murdered by My Boyfriend.

But he has also appeared as Dr Jamie Cole in Our Girl, DC Jamie Desford in Line of Duty, Jason Hales in Wanderlust, and Doctor John Watson in The Irregulars.

Mahesh Jadu is Vilgefortz of Roggeveen

Australia’s Mahesh Jadu is best known for the role of Dr. Doug Harris in the soap opera Neighbours, and the role of Ahmad in Netflix original series Marco Polo.

Kim Bodnia is Vesemir

Danish actor, writer, and director Kim Bodnia became widely known for his role as police detective Martin Rohde in the Scandinavian crime drama series The Bridge.

He became internationally known for his lead role in Nicolas Winding Refn's 1996 directorial debut Pusher, but today he is probably best known as Konstantin in Phoebe Waller-Bridge's spy thriller TV series, Killing Eve.
