Who’s in the cast of Vigil?


Surrane Jones - DCI Amy Silva
Gentleman Jack and Doctor Foster star Suranne Jones leads the cast as DCI Amy Silva .
At the start of her career, Jones made a name for herself in Coronation Street, and has since gone on to become a regular face on UK TV. She was most recently seen in the second series of I Am.


Rose Leslie - DS Kirsten Longacre
Rose Leslie will play DS Kirsten Longacre.
The character is DCI Amy Silva’s colleague in the investigation, taking the lead on the ground. She is also her romantic partner. Leslie has appeared in Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones.


Gary Lewis - Dec. Colin Robertson

Gangs of New York star Gary Lewis leads the fictional police force as Detective Superintendent Colin Robertson. The Scottish actor has also appeared in Billy Elliot and Outlander.


Martin Compston - Craig Burke
Line of Duty favourite Martin Compston plays HMS Vigil crew member Craig Burke.
As well as Line of Duty, Compston has also appeared in The Nest, Mary Queen of Scots and the upcoming TV series The Rig.


Lauren Lyle - Jade
Lauren Lyle plays a protestor to HMS Vigil on the ground called Jade. Lyle can also be seen in the TV series Outlander.


Paterson Joseph - Newsome
Playing Captain of HMS Vigil is Paterson Joseph.

Joseph is best known for his role in the HBO series The Leftovers, and BBC series Noughts and Crosses. He also appeared as the charismatic Alan Johnson in Peep Show.


Connor Swindells - Hadlow
Connor Swindells plays chief engineering officer on HMS Vigil - Hadlow.
Swindells gained acclaim after his breakthrough role as Adam Groff in Netflix comedy Sex Education.


Shaun Evans - Elliot Glover
Playing the role of coxswain Elliot Glover is Shaun Evans. The role liaises between the highest-ranking six officers HMS Vigil and the rest of the crew.

Evans is best known for his performance in the Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour, and his roles in Teachers and Ashes to Ashes.
What is Vigil about?
From the makers of Line of Duty, Bodyguard and The Pembrokeshire Murders, Vigil is a thriller series set in Scotland.
DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) is tasked with solving a suspicious death on board the Trident nuclear submarine HMS Vigil, as well as the suspicious disappearance of a fishing trawler.
What is promised as a straightforward mission soon becomes a desperate attempt to uncover a dark conspiracy at the heart of the UK police force and the Royal Navy.

The story is set against the backdrop of the UK’s nuclear deterrent, which has been a politically divisive issue for some decades.

When does Virgil start on BBC One?
The first episode of Vigil aired on Sunday 29 August on BBC One at 9:00pm.

The second episode is being shown on Monday 30 August on BBC One at 9:00pm.
The following episodes will air each week on Sunday evenings from then onwards.
