Channel 4’s gripping anthology series I Am… has returned for a second season with another three actresses taking on the leading roles.
Directed by Dominic Savage, I Am uses three standalone episodes to focus on the challenges faced by women in different aspects of life, including relationships, marriages, and aging.
Who is in I Am season 2?
Suranne Jones - Victoria
Episode one of I Am season two will focus on the character of Victoria. Victoria is a working mum who appears to have her life in order, but struggles with the everyday hurdles that come her way.
She will be played by Suranne Jones who has appeared in popular TV shows Doctor Foster and Gentleman Jack in recent years.
Top Boy actor Ashley Walters will appear alongside Suranne Jones as her character’s husband in episode one of I Am.
Walters starred as Ronnie Pike in Sky One's Bulletproof which was cancelled by the broadcaster after misconduct allegations against his co-star Noel Clarke.
Letitia Wright - Danielle
Actress Letitia Wright stars in the second episode of I Am. She plays Danielle, a woman who falls head over heels in love, but their relationship has been led by deception.
Wright has appeared in a number of successful projects over the last five years, including Marvel’s Black Panther, and the award-winning Small Axe films by Steve McQueen.
CJ Beckford stars alongside Letitia Wright in episode two. Beckford will play Wright’s partner in the drama.
He has recently been seen in a number of National Theatre productions, and the TV drama Sitting in Limbo.
Lesley Manville - Maria
The final episode of I Am season two will focus on the character of Maria. Maria has come to a point in her life when she wants a change in her life, much to the displeasure of her husband.
Maria is portrayed by Lesley Manville. Manville is best known for her roles in Mum, Harlots, Ordinary Love and World on FIre. She is also lined up to play the last incarnation of Princess Margaret in Netflix’s The Crown.
I Am season 2 release date
The first I Am… season two film, I Am Victoria, airs on Channel 4 on Thursday 5th August 2021 at 9pm.
There will be two more episodes, I Am Danielle airing on Thursday, August 12 and I Am Maria, August, 19 - however if you don't want to wait for the weekly episodes all three episodes will be available on All 4 from August 5.
