WeCrashed, a new true-crime drama about the rise and fall of WeWork, is coming to Apple TV+ on Friday 18 March.

The series stars Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway as Adam and Rebekah Neumann, the married co-founders of WeWork.

Here’s everything you need to know about WeCrashed.

What is it about?

The series is about WeWork’s founders, Adam and Rebekah Neumann, and the cult of personality that surrounded them. It charts the rise and fall of WeWork, which – though it still operates – failed to go public in 2018 and continues to lose money.

Is it based on a true story? What happened to WeWork?

Yes, this is another true story – a little bit like Inventing Anna or The Dropout.

It’s about Adam Neumann, and the strange working environment cultivated at WeWork, and how that eventually lead to the company failing to “go public”. That’s when a privately owned company becomes publicly owned, and the stock options afforded to investors start to be worth real money rather than just representing it.

Neumann was eventually ousted from the board, though remains a billionaire.

Who stars in the cast?

Jared Leto stars as Adam Neumann, one of the co-founders of WeWork. Leto is best-known for films such as House of Gucci and Suicide Squad, as well as allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards teenagers.

Anne Hathaway stars as Rebekah Neumann. Hathaway is best known for appearing in The Princess Diaries and Les Miserables, as well as for collaborating with Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar.

They’re joined by America Ferrara (Superstore), O. T. Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale), Kyle Marvin, and Anthony Edwards (ER) amongst others.

The series was created by Lee Eisenberg (who previously wrote for The US Office and Little America) and Drew Crevello (previously involved in the development of Deadpool and X-Men: First Class).

Yes, there is. You can see it – and Jared Leto’s spooky Adam Neumann – right here.

When and how can I watch it?

The first three episodes of WeCrashed will be available to watch on Apple TV+ on Friday 18 March. The series – which is eight episodes long in total – will continue weekly after that, until Friday 22 April.

What do reviews of WeCrashed say?

Our review at NationalWorld noted how singularly the series focuses on Jared Leto’s performance, for better and for worse - it’s a strong performance, but leaves the series feeling a little narrow, with other important aspects falling by the wayside.

Why should I watch it?

Because it’s the little-known story of an organisation that still plays a big role in the world of work.
