What We Do in the Shadows season 5 is finally coming to UK screens just in time for Halloween. The comedy series follows the story of eccentric vampires Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they try to adapt to modern life in Staten Island.

The TV series is inspired by the 2014 film of the same name from Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and Flight of the Conchords star Jemaine Clement.

Episodes for season 5 already dropped for US audiences in July, meaning UK fans have had a longer wait to catch up with their favourite group of vampires and have had to be careful to avoid spoilers on social media. What We Do in the Shadows season 5 will be available to watch in the UK on Disney Plus from Wednesday October 25. Seasons 1 to 4 are already available to watch on the streaming platform, with seasons 1 to 3 available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

What is What We Do in the Shadows season 5 about?

What We Do in the Shadows season 5 picks up after the season 4 finale, where once again Nandor hampered Guillermo's ambitions to become a vampire. However, our favourite familiar has finally taken matters into his own hands, and with the help of a big bag of cash and his friend Derek, he is ready to finally make his transformation.

The official synopsis for What We Do in the Shadows season 5 reads: "Nandor feels Guillermo slipping away as he seems to be spending much more time with Laszlo, whose skills as a gentleman scientist are put to the test as he tries to solve the mystery of the strange and very secret changes Guillermo is going through.

"Nadja, suffering the effects of a previously-undiagnosed supernatural hex, reconnects with her family - or at least, a family - from the Old Country, Colin pursues the path of so many energy vampires before him by running for political office and The Guide tries to figure out where she fits in as the relative newcomer to this tightly-knit group."

Who is in the cast for What We Do in the Shadows season 5?

All the main cast of What We Do in the Shadows will be returning for season five. Fans will once again be joined by Matt Berry as Laszlo, Kayvan Novak as Nandor, Harvey Guillén as Guillermo, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson and Kristen Schaa as The Guide. Past seasons have also featured celebrity cameos including Star Wars' Mark Hamill, so it's predicted more famous faces could make an appearance for season 5.

Will there be a What We Do in the Shadows season 6?

Yes, there will be a What We Do in the Shadows season 6, the series was renewed by FX for a fifth and sixth season before the fourth season had even aired. In a statement at the time, FX Entertainment president Nick Grad said: "There's a lot of life left in our favourite vampires from Staten Island, and FX couldn't be more thrilled to commit to two additional seasons of this phenomenal series."

However, the sixth season could be the last. Reported by Radio Times during an interview in May 2023 Berry hinted he "might be getting a bit old". When asked how many seasons there would be he said: "That’s not up to me." He continued: "We’re about to do the sixth. I think only four have come out here, but they’re on Disney Plus. I don’t know how many there’s going to be after that, but it’s not my decision.

He added: "There’s a lot of harnesses and stunts and stuff. I might be getting a bit too old for that! I don’t know. But you know I’m supposed to be undead, so the rules don’t apply do they."
