Who was Yak in The Masked Singer? Brit music legend John Lydon from the Sex Pistols revealed in surprise unmasking as fifth star eliminated

The Masked Singer’s Yak has been confirmed to be a British music legend in a surprise unmasking.

The surprise result saw the fifth star unmasked on this year’s ITV guessing game. Yak was revealed as Sex Pistols singer John Lydon.

John, also known as Johnny Rotten, was correctly guessed by both Jonathan Ross and guest judge, Freddie Flintoff. Speaking after his reveal, John admitted the experience had been “unbelievable” before joking: “This thing weighs as much as a Yak!”

Confirming he had attempted to keep his voice a secret, he said: “I didn’t wanna give the game away. I tried everything I could not to come across as a singer!”

Reacting to John’s surprise reveal online, one fan commented: “Who else could have been inside that mad Yak but the uniquely unpredictable Johnny Rotten? Always a pleasure to see John Lydon – a proper icon.”

Monkey Business and Yak were forced to sing-off after receiving the fewest audience votes before the panel opted to save one of them. Toastie, Arctic Fox and Conkers all made it through thanks to the audience vote which meant that Monkey Business and Yak had to sing once again in order to win the votes of the judges – Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross.
