Here’s everything you need to know about The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.

What is it about?

The official synopsis reveals that “for heartbroken Anna, every day is the same. She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbour and his adorable daughter move in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel.”

“That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder... Or did she?”

Who is in the cast?

Kristen Bell stars as Anna, the eponymous Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. Bell is a prolific actor, best known for her roles in Veronica Mars, The Good Place, and as the voice of the Girl in Gossip Girl.

Meanwhile, Tom Riley plays her handsome new neighbour, and Samsara Yett plays his daughter, the Girl in the Window Across the Street from the Woman in the House. You’ll recognise Riley from The Nevers, Ill Behaviour, or Da Vinci’s Demons, and Yett from Don’t Look Up.

Making up the rest of the cast are Michael Ealy (Almost Human), Mary Holland (Unicorn Store), Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), Christina Anthony (black-ish) and Benjamin Levy Aguilar (Filthy Rich).

When is it on and how can I watch it?

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window will be available to stream on Netflix from Friday 28 January.

The series is 8 episodes long.

Are there any other films I should watch first?

You might want to watch Alfred Hitchock’s Rear Window, recent Netflix Amy Adams movie The Woman in the Window, the Jennifer Lawrence movie The House at the End of the Street, and Emily Blunt movie The Girl on the Train.

Each of these are examples of the sort of movie The Woman in the House is parodying.

What have the reviews said?

While the series has received a lot of quite critical reviews, our review at National World described the series as a “deadpan delight”, and praised the humour it got from approaching ridiculous things entirely sincerely.

Why should I watch it?

It looks like an entertaining parody of a particularly dour and self-serious genre.
