Covid: 15 areas of the UK with the lowest coronavirus infection rates

Despite Covid-19 infections rising in many parts of the UK, here are the 15 areas with the lowest rates right now.

Covid infection rates have been increasing across the UK, while there is mounting concern over the new Omicron variant.

However, there are areas across the country that are experiencing very low rates of Covid.

The Outer Hebrides in Scotland, known as Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, currently has the lowest Covid case rate of any UK local authority.

Only 37 cases were detected there in the week to 23 November, equivalent to 139.6 cases per 100,000 people, according to the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.

A number of Scottish regions and London boroughs have the lowest infection rates, according to the data.
