Toy Story 5 merchandise: Aldi to release official Disney range of toys from £3.99

This month, the battle for playtime begins - with the release of Toy Story 5. Boasting a star-studded cast including Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, and of course Tom Hanks as the Oscar-winning actor returns as lead character Woody.

The 69-year-old has spent almost 30 years starring as the pull-string cowboy in the popular animated film franchise, which follows the antics of a group of toys. After his emotional exit in the fourth instalment, during which he left to become a “lost toy”, Hanks returns as the beloved cowboy for the latest film, which sees the gang take on their latest threat – electronic devices.

Joining the cast is rapper Bad Bunny and actor Alan Cumming who were confirmed as the new trailer for the highly-anticipated animated film was released on May 26. The Puerto Rican rapper will play Pizza With Sunglasses while US Traitors host Cumming will voice the evil alter ego to horse Bullseye in the latest instalment of the hit film franchise.

In the latest chapter in the story, the toys will band together to try and save their owner Bonnie from her new Lilypad smart tablet and Woody, who left the gang in the fourth instalment of the franchise to become a “lost toy”, is reunited with his friends.

In the trailer, Jessie is seen watching on as Bonnie plays on her tablet, and Lilypad says: “Bonnie doesn’t want to play with toys anymore. She needs me.”
