Red Hot: Maya Jama, J-Lo, Natalie Portman and Diane Kruger show that red is the colour of summer 2023

The colour red is a big trend for summer 2023 and this is good news for all of you who have a penchant for the colour and that certainly includes myself! Although traditionally it may be a colour one would normally associate with adding an injection of colour to your autumn/winter wardrobe, this is definitely not the case for 2023.

One big name star who recently demonstrated the power of red is Love Island’s Maya Jama. She looked simply sensational and most definitely stole the fashion crown at the annual National Gallery summer party in London. 

When it comes to the red dress Maya Jama  chose, it was quite a daring number, with a plunging neckline. The Dolce & Gabbana gown, which was semi sheer, certainly attracted attention. 

If you think red is not universally popular for celebrities, think again. Diane Kruger opted for a long red blazer as she joined the likes of Cate Blanchett at the Fragrance Foundation Awards in NYC.

Contrary to reports, it was not a blazer dress as she was wearing a lacy dress underneath it. 

In April 2023, Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore a red corseted gown by Vivienne Westwood for the Global Premiere of ‘Citadel.’

J-Lo recently took to her Instagram to promote her Delola cocktail in a strapless red dress by Cult Gaia and who can forget how utterly incredible Natalie Portman looked in a red mini dress and blazer by Dior that she wore to attend May December at Cannes 2023?

Now if you want to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Maya Jama, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, J-Lo and Natalie Portman, the exact shade of red you should be opting for is ‘Tomato red.’

According to Vogue “Tomato red took the runways by storm as the shade du jour for the spring 2023 season.

Slightly more orange-toned than typical cherry red and brighter than deep scarlet, the bold hue enamoured us with its vibrant and joyful effect (dopamine dressing is very much still a thing) that is also surprisingly wearable.”
