Taylor Swift showcases ultimate ‘Anti-Hero’ revenge outfit style amid Joe Alwyn split

Taylor Swift may have just started a new era of revenge outfit and I’m calling it the ‘Anti-hero.’ After weeks of speculation that Taylor has split from boyfriend of six years actor Joe Alwyn she stepped out in a super low-key outfit. 

The Shake it Off singer was seen in New York wearing a black button down T-shirt, grey jeans and black boots. A perfectly nice outfit for an evening out, but this was meant to be her 'revenge dress’ moment. 

You know what I am getting at, don't you? That pinnacle point when you can wear a skin-tight fitted dress preferably in black or red with legs on show that shows your ex exactly what they are missing and how you're so over them that you couldn’t care less about the break up. 

However, I believe Taylor's low-key outfit screamed that she was in fact over the break up more so than any dress would. The ‘quiet luxury’ style outfit is the antithesis of revenge dressing and could be the start of a new era of effortless, nonchalant anti-hero breakup style.  

Who can forget Princess Diana's ultimate 'revenge dress' when she attended a 1994 dinner at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens wearing a black Christina Stambolian dress?

On the night a tell-all documentary about Charles’ was to be broadcast where he would discuss his affair with Camilla, Diana stepped out in this smoking hot LBD. Needless to say all eyes were solely focused on Diana and the dress was aptly named the 'revenge dress'. 

Singer Shakira wore a strikingly similar black dress to Diana’s when she attended the Elvis showing at the 75th annual Cannes a month after her split from Gerard Pique. The singer had a very public breakup with her partner of 11 years and her dress showed him exactly what he was missing. 

Model Bella Hadid took the revenge dress to a new level when she came face to face with her ex musician The Weeknd on the runway for The Victoria’s Secret show. The model strutted down the runway in grey satin lingerie as her ex was performing on stage. 

A few months later Bella wore a sheer catsuit to the Met Gala when the musician - real name Abel Tesfaye-  attended with new girlfriend Selena Gomez. Not keeping score, but I’d say it was Bella two the Weekend zero.

And the ultimate in revenge dressing has to be Miley Cyrus in her music video for ‘Flowers’. The song alone is the epitome of revenge but the singer went one step further. In the video Miley wore a gold YSL dress similar to one Jennifer Lawrence wore to the premiere for The Hunger Games. Ex-husband Liam Hemsworth allegedly had an affair with Jennifer.
