Here’s all you need to know about Mr Goxx, how he began trading cryptocurrency and the secrets to his success...

Who is Mr Goxx?

Mr Goxx is a hamster.

He is the pet of a German lecturer who likes to spark people’s interest in new tech.

His human business partner is a programmer and best friend since they were at university together.

The two humans decided to enter the crypto universe but gave control to a hamster instead of taking the reins themselves.

"We felt that everything keeps getting more expensive these days and building savings is super-hard to achieve with high rents to pay," they said in an interview with the BBC.

"It seems like most people from our generation see no other chance than throwing a lot of their savings on the crypto market, without having a clue what’s going on there.

"We were joking about whether my hamster would be able to make smarter investment decisions than we humans do."

How did Mr Goxx get his name?

The hamster’s name, Mr Goxx, is a nod to the pitfalls involved with crypto.

He is named after a company called Mt Gox, once the biggest cryptocurrency exchange, which filed for bankruptcy after it was compromised and Bitcoin tokens stolen.

How is Mr Goxx trading cryptocurrency?

Mr Goxx, like many workers since the Covid pandemic, works from home.

As he runs in his "intention wheel" different trade options present themselves before he makes a selection. Once the crypto is selected he decides whether to trade by running through one of the two tunnels in his office labelled "buy" and "sell".

Mr Goxx’s owners have wired up the home office with the latest technology so that when he goes through a tunnel it completes a trade depending on his movements.

How is Mr Goxx performing on the crypto market?

Despite the light-hearted approach, Mr Goxx is delivering results.

Though there was a rocky start through the summer months, his trading performance is up nearly 20% at the end of September.

That increase is not to be sniffed at, with Mr Goxx outperforming Bitcoin - the biggest crypto currency - and some of the world’s trading indexes.

He has built an empire, called Goxx Capital, in next to no time and draws an audience each day through a Twitch livestream and followers through his Twitter account.

His human business partners are keen to stress that Goxx Capital is not a real investment firm and that everything they do is for entertainment purposes only. "Investment shown here are not financial advice," a disclaimer on Mr Goxx’s Twitter posts read.
