The autumn season may still be several months away, but it is never too early to start planning your next break.
October is usually on the chilly side in the UK, with temperatures dropping to a daily high of around 14C and conditions mostly being overcast with hints of rain.
If the cooler weather isn’t for you, October is a great time to head abroad as you will miss the summer rush, meaning prices should generally be cheaper since you are travelling off peak - providing you miss the October half-term holidays.
So if you are keen on escaping to soak up some autumnal sun this year, here are a few destinations you could visit where the weather will still be lovely and hot.

5. Cyrpus
Temperatures in Cyprus are still lovely and warm in October, reaching average daily highs of around 27C. The sunny climes make it a good option for beach lovers and it has miles of sandy shores to enjoy swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing, and it has some impressive cultural sites too, including the historical Tombs of the Kings in Paphos and the Kourion Archaeological Site.

6. The Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are bathed in sunshine all year round and in October, temperatures reach around 26C on average. There is plenty for tourists to do here, whether it is relaxing by the sea or exploring on foot. Some fun activities to try include wandering the volcanic landscapes, strolling along the many beaches, visiting the old towns, enjoying some thrills at water parks, or hitting the hiking trails.

7. Marrakech, Morocco
Morocco’s North African location means it mostly basks in warm sunshine all year round and the weather still feels like summer in October. The average temperature in Marrakech is around 28C at this time of year and the city has lots to offer in the way of sightseeing and things to do, including beautiful palaces, the stunning Menara Gardens, luxury spas and upmarket restaurants.

8. Mauritius
Situated off the southeast coast of Africa, Mauritius enjoys plenty of sunshine in October with temperature reaching around 27C on average. October is also one of its driest months of the year so you are unlikely to encounter rain during your visit, but south easterly winds should help to keep you cool. The island offers miles of white sandy beaches to explore and the shallow bays of Balaclava and Calodyne are popular spots for snorkelling and kite surfing. Beyond the beaches, there are mountains and forests to wander, including Porte Lafayette’s national park.
