A host of dangerous criminals were locked up in 2021 for a range of shocking crimes - among them are murderers, rapists and acid attackers.
Among the criminals jailed in the UK over the past year were Wayne Couzens, David Fuller, Emma Tustin and Savannah Brockhill, who committed crimes that shocked the nation.
Their sentences go from 14 years to whole life orders - here are 23 of some of the most notorious criminals who were jailed over the past 12 months.
9. Savannah Brockhill
Savannah Brockhill was jailed for at least 25 years after she murdered her partner’s daughter Star Hobson. Brockhill, 28, who referred to herself in a video as the “number one psycho” kicked or punched Star in a fatal blow that led to the 16-month old bleeding to death. It emerged in the trial family and friends had contacted social services five times over fears for Star. 10. Pawel Relowicz
Pawel Relowicz was jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years, for the rape and murder of Libby Squire. He had dumped the philosophy student’s dead or dying body in the River Hull, hoping it would never be found. The jury dismissed his claim he had consensual sex, and accepted that he cajoled or forced her into his car. He had been carrying out a campaign of chilling, sexually-motivated crimes in the student area of Hull, which included peering through windows to watch young women. | PA
11. Khairi Saadallah
Reading terror attacker Khairi Saadallah was goven a whole life order for murdering three men in a park.Khairi Saadallah, 26, shouted “Allahu akhbar” as he fatally stabbed friends James Furlong, 36, Dr David Wails, 49, and Joseph Ritchie-Bennett, 39, on June 20 last year.Three other people – Stephen Young, 51, Patrick Edwards, 29, and Nishit Nisudan, 34 – were also injured before Saadallah threw away the eight-inch knife and ran off, pursued by an off-duty police officer. | PA
12. Adam Jackson
Adam Jackson, 27, murdered the two-year-old daughter of his then-partner. Jackson who was jailed for at least 16-and-a-half years, was looking after Grace Thorpe when he caused her horrendous injuries during a “spontaneous eruption of uncontrolled violence” in November 2020 as she sat in her highchair .Grace, who Teesside Crown Court heard had been encouraged to call him “Daddy”, was hit at least seven times by Jackson and had a fractured skull, broken left leg and serious internal injuries. | PA
