A man and a woman in their 90s have been found dead in a seaside town.

Detectives are investigating the deaths of the two OAPs, and have cordoned off an area of the town. The bodies were found at The Butchery in the centre of Sandwich, Kent yesterday morning.

A police spokesman added: “Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing but police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”

Officers are at the scene today, along with at least two cars, two ambulances and a smaller incident response van.

Cllr Dan Friend, who represents Sandwich on Dover Dover District Council, posted on social media about the large police presence in the town.

He said: “There is an incident currently occurring at The Butchery. I've received an update from the police. There is a multi-agency operation, the incident has been contained and there is no danger to the public. There will be a heightened police presence for the rest of today at least.”

Maureen and Philip Cooper were visiting from Cliffend in Thanet when they came across the mass of emergency vehicles. Mr Cooper said: "We had first noticed two police officers nearby and then saw all this. I've only just heard about what's happened and it's horrific.”
