Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley has passed away at the age of 54-years-old.

The news was confirmed in a statement by her mother Priscilla, who said: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.”

Presley was married four times and engaged five times throughout her life. The singer had high-profile marriages to the King of Pop Michael Jackson in 1994 and Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage in 2002.

Following her death, Presley’s last husband, Michael Lockwood’s attorney released a statement on his behalf to Entertainment Tonight. It describes Lockwood’s world as being “turned on its ear”. The pair who had been together for ten years and separated in 2016 shared twin daughters and had just finalised their contentious divorce in 2021.

She remained close with her first husband Danny Keough right up until her death, who she described as her “best friend”. The pair shared two children, actress Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough who died in 2020.

Presley’s divorce with her last husband, Micheal Lockwood, was finalised in 2021, the couple who had twin daughters in 2008 split in 2016 and entered into a contentious custody battle.

Danny Keough

Presley first married musician Danny Keough in October 1988 when she was just 20-years-old. The pair had two children, Riley in 1989 and Benjamin in 1992. Despite divorcing in 1994 they remained firm friends right up until her death.

In an interview with Rolling Stone in 1993, Presley described Keough as her “best friend”, she said: “He’s my absolute best friend in the world”, adding: “The smartest thing I’ve ever done is have children with this man, because I knew this is the one man I could be connected to for the rest of my life.”

In 2020, their 27-year-old son Benjamin died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Presley wrote about the grief she experienced following his death in an essay for People, writing that her life was “detonated and destroyed” and that: “It’s a real choice to keep going, one that I have to make every single day and one that is constantly challenging to say the least... But I keep going for my girls.”

Michael Jackson

Quickly following on from her split from Keough, Presley married pop superstar Michael Jackson in 1994. The pair had first met at one of Elvis Presley’s concerts in Las Vegas in 1975 when Lisa Marie was 7-years-old and Jackson was still a member of the Jackson Five.

Their marriage lasted two years, with Presley filing for divorce in 1996. Speaking about her marriage in a Marie Claire interview in 2007, Presley revealed it was the “biggest mistake of her life”. She said: “How can I word this? Um. Well. Leaving my first marriage, for the person that I left it for — that was probably the biggest mistake of my life.”

Nicolas Cage

In August 2002 Presley married Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage on the 25th anniversary of her father’s death. The marriage was short-lived with the couple filing for divorce after only four months together.

John Oszajca

Presley was briefly engaged to singer-songwriter John Oszajca who proposed to her in Christmas 1999. The couple were engaged for 16 months but split before they married.

Michael Lockwood

In May 2006 Presly married her music producer Micheal Lockwood, who would be her fourth and final husband. Two years later in 2008 the pair welcomed twin daughters, Harper Vivienne Anne and Finley Aaron Love.

In her 2007 interview with Marie Claire she called Lockwood her “best friend”, Presley said: “I’ve gotten to the point in my life where I’ve chased all the crazies down. I was ready to stop the madness. At this age, I really appreciate having [a husband who is] a best friend. But you know, the other guys were fun. For a while.”

After ten years of marriage Presley filed for divorce in 2016 after allegedly finding explicit photos of children on his computer. Police later conducted an investigation but the allegations were dismissed.

The pair entered into a contentious divorce and custody battle for their twin daughters, which was only finalised in 2021.

Following Presley’s death Lockwood’s attorney has released a statement on his behalf to Entertainment Tonight. It reads: “Michael had been hoping for a speedy and complete recovery because her children needed her. It is very sad it didn’t turn out that way”. Adding: “Michael’s world has been turned on its ear. He is with both of his daughters now.”
