The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared a sweet tribute on social media to mark the ninth birthday of Prince George.

The couple shared a photograph of their eldest son at the beach with their almost 14million Instagram followers, with many commenters gushing about the nine-year-old’s likeness to his father.

The portrait of George smiling was snapped by his mother Kate, 40, during a family trip to the beach earlier this month.

The Royals captioned the post, writing: “George is turning 9! 🎂🎈”

Prince Charles paid tribute to his grandson on Twitter, where he re-tweeted the post on the @ClarenceHouse account.

“Happy 9th Birthday to Prince George!,” The Prince of Wales wrote.

Many people have taken to social media to wish George a happy birthday in the comment section of the posts.

One person wrote: “He’s looking so much like his daddy these days! Happy Birthday George!”

Another said: “He looks just like William to me! Beautiful boy. Happy birthday PG”

“Happy birthday Prince George!!!,” a third added.

How did William and Kate meet?: Kate Middleton and Prince William met while they were studying at St. Andrews in Scotland. In 2005, Kate graduated with an art degree, while William finished university with a degree in geography. William proposed to Kate during their holiday to Kenya in October 2010, however they didn’t go public with their engagement until November of the same year.

They officially became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after tying the knot in Westminster Abbey in April 2011. It has been estimated that their nuptials cost around £30million, including Kate’s Alexander McQueen gown, the church service and reception.

The couple announced Kate’s first pregnancy in December 2012 and went on to introduce Prince George to the world in July 2013.

In May 2015, the pair welcomed their daughter Princess Charlotte and their family grew once again in 2018 with the birth of Prince Louis.

How much money do the Cambridges have?: Prince William, who is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, has a networth of $30 million, according to celebritynetworth.com. It is estimated that Kate has a networth of around $10 million.

Prince William receives an income from the Duchy of Cornwall, inherited a trust fund after the death of the Queen mother and received a further $10million from his late mother Princess Diana on his 25th birthday. His father The Prince of Wales is next in line to the British throne, while his son Prince George is third.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to move their family from Anmer Hall in Norfolk into Adelaide Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Adelaide Cottage was built in 1831 by King William IV for his wife Queen Adelaide.

Prince George and his siblings Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, will be starting a new prep school in September near their historic four-bedroom home.

The property is also located just a short drive from where Kate’s family live in Bucklebury.
