None of the feature in the list of the top 10 richest people in the world - those places are all taken by men.
And a comparison with the men’s list reveals one striking difference - there are no tech entrepreneurs here (although Amazon’s passed-on wealth does make an appearance). No, the companies run by these women are in retail, construction, and finance. We have not yet seen the emergence of what could be dubbed the “tech sis” to any huge financial degree, although that will surely only be a matter of time.
Instead we have a welter of famous brand names - L’Oreal, Walmart, MSC and Mars among them - who make up what nowadays can be seen as the old guard in the business world.
Starting with the wealthiest, here is the list:

9. Miriam Adelson and family
Miriam Adelson and her family family are $32.4bn, ranked number 57 in the overall rich list. She is the widow of Sheldon Adelson - the couple are pictured together - the former CEO and chairman of casino company Las Vegas Sands, who died at 87 in 2021. She and her family now own more than half of the New York Stock Exchange-listed gambling empire, which has casinos in Singapore and Macao, reports Forbes. Long known as a big Republican Party donor, both alongside Sheldon and after his death, Adelson is a top backer of Donald Trump. She was born Israel and became a medical doctor focusing on addiction. | via WikiCommons

10. Marilyn Simons and family
The widow of hedge fund "legend" - as Forbes calls him - Jim Simons, who died last year, Marilyn Simons and her family are worth $31bn. She chairs the $4.5bn (assets) Simons Foundation, which is the primary funder of Math for America. Simons also sits on the Stony Broon foundation board and the board of Learning Spring Elementary School, for children on the autism spectrum. | Eugene Gologursky/Getty Images for Friends of IHES
