It’s that time of year where skies across the UK are about to light up with fireworks to celebrate the annual Guy Fawkes celebrations - but will the weather hold up for crowds?

Organised displays are set to take place across the country, with thousands expected to attend. Huge events will be taking place in London, Edinburgh and Swansea and hundreds of other towns up and down the UK.

While Bonfire Night falls on s Tuesday this year, many spectators will be taking to fields and streets with their families to catch a glimpse of sparkling skies this upcoming weekend. But will the weather be kind to those anxious waiting the fireworks?

Weather forecast for Friday, November 1 - Sunday, November 3

The Met Office’s current outlook for Friday to Sunday says: “Remaining settled Friday and into the weekend, however it will remain cloudy, particularly across the south with patchy drizzle in places. Bright or sunny spells developing more widely on Sunday.”

The weather service has forecasted that Friday night will remain dry but slightly cloudy for for the majority of the country, with some patchy showers across northern England and into the Scottish Borders, as well as across parts of Northern Ireland including Armagh and Omagh.

Temperatures on Friday evening will range from 8C-4C across Scotland, but much milder temperatures will be felt in the south, stretching into 13C for the south and south-east of England. Wales will remain at around 11C, while NI will be similar.

The weather is likely to remain mostly dry into Saturday evening, with bursts of showers in southern ad western Scotland. There may also be some patchy rain from Saturday afternoon into the early evening in south-west England, including Exeter and Plymouth. Temperatures will be only slightly milder, between 7C and 10C across Scotland, while the rest of the country experiences between 9C and 13C.

On Sunday, forecasts are currently expected little to no rain across the country. There will only be small isolated patches in locations such as the south-west coast of England, and a little across the Scottish Highlands.

Temperatures will remain much the same as Friday and Saturday, stretching from highs of 11C in the south-west, to lows of 7C in central Wales.

Weather forecast for Bonfire Night - Tuesday, November 5

According to WXCharts, which uses MetDesk data, Tuesday evening is expected to be largely dry again. There will be some rain across the islands on the west coast of Scotland and a band of rain moving through Northern Ireland, but the mainland will remain mostly dry.

The met Office reports that temperatures on Tuesday evening will be between around 7C and 14C, with the highest of this seen on the southern coast of England, and the lowest in northern England and the east coast of Scotland.
