Was there a tornado in Michigan today: Tornado warning Monroe, Livonia and Detroit
Residents in Monroe, Livonia and Detroit are on alert after tornado warnings.
The Facebook group for Livonia Community posted three hours ago that “The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning and Severe Thunderstorm Warning both for Livonia today (April 15) from 1:51-2:45 a.m. You can expect 60 mph wind gusts. Please take precautions!”
Livonia is a city in Wayne County, Michigan, located approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown Detroit. In response to the Livonia Community Facebook post, one resident wrote: “My phone emitted a LOUD alert. Definitely got our attention and then heard the sirens outdoors… it was pretty wild out there around 2:00 am. ”
Another resident wrote: “Were we supposed to get a text or phone alert from the system?” Three hours ago, the Official Twitter account for the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontia wrote: “Flood Watch in effect through Thurs night. Potential exists for multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms to move across the region during this time. Additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall are expected by Thurs night, with locally higher totals possible.”
The Flood watch remains in place until early Friday morning, at around 2am. Residents should expect thunderstorms and showers to move across the region during the time, and on Thursday night, an additional one to two inches of rainfall are expected.

One Reddit user voiced their concerns about the tornado in Michigan and wrote: “hello all. i live in oakland county and i struggle with very very extreme anxiety about the weather. the storms tonight are all i've been able to think about since last week. i know it's irrational, but it's all i've been able to hear about and think about lately.
“i don't have any medications or anything to deal with the anxiety, and i'm feeling kind of sick just thinking about tonight. so i just came to ask: how bad will it really be, if anyone has an idea? that tornado warning from easter weekend really shook me up even if nothing really happened near me, but i'm just worried about experiencing something like that again while i'm home alone.”
In response, one person wrote: “Preparation helps. It helps keep you in control what you can control. Find a spot in your dwelling that you think it well protected.
“Bring in bottles of water, snacks, first aid kit. Charge up your phone. Find a light source in case the power goes out.
“ Sleep in comfortable clothes in case you have to get up and leave. Put your shoes/boots next to you. Write down emergency family members on paper or on your body.
All of this will probably not be necessary but it will help calm you because you are being proactive. Nerves love it when you sit and stew in worry- that is how they grow bigger- dont let them.
“As soon as your nervousness starts, use that as fuel to start to prepare. You are ready. Go forth .”
