Debenhams shoppers stunned to find hot water bottle on sale for more than £1,600

Shoppers browsing Debenhams have been left doing a double take after spotting an everyday warming essential listed for an eye-watering £1,619.99 - and that’s the sale price.

The product in question is the Kelvenix Large 2L Natural Rubber Hot Water Bottle. While its soft, fluffy faux fur cover and generous capacity is likely to draw attention as the temperatures drop, it four-figure price tag is likely to raise more than just a few eyebrows.

Incredibly, the listing shows the original retail price was £1,839.99, an extraordinary price for an item that is traditionally considered an affordable way to keep warm during the colder months.

Hot water bottles are a familiar favourite when temperatures start to drop, whether they're used to warm up a bed or when snuggling under a blanket.

The Kelvenix hot water bottle has several features that might appeal, but none that would explain that huge price. It has a 2-litre capacity, a natural rubber construction and a warm faux fur fleece cover.

According to the product description, the bottle is intended to retain warmth for hours and can be placed in a bed before sleep to help warm it up. Its large capacity is also designed to provide warmth beyond the feet, making it suitable for use in different areas of the body.

Anyone who likes the idea of a cosy hot water bottle but doesn't fancy spending thousands of pounds may want to browse some of the retailer's other Kelvenix designs.

Debenhams also lists a Kelvenix Sloth Grey Long Hot Water Bottle with Fluffy Cover for sale for £22.99, down from £25.99. The design also has a 2-litre capacity, along with a flexible shape and a fluffy cover, with playful sloth detailing and pom-poms.

Another option is the Kelvenix Long Hot Water Bottle with Fluffy Cover, another grey 2-litre design measuring 72cm, now £16.99, down from £18.99. Its extra-long shape is intended to cover more than one area at a time, while its soft cover adds a cosy finishing touch.

These alternatives offer similar warming features at prices that are much closer to what shoppers might typically expect to pay for this kind of product.

The unusually high price of the Kelvenix Large 2L Natural Rubber Hot Water Bottle raises the question of whether the listing reflects an error, but there is no confirmation in the available product information that this is the case.

For shoppers simply hoping to make autumn and winter evenings a little more comfortable, there are other fluffy hot water bottles available through Debenhams for a fraction of the price.

Debenhams told NationalWorld that the item price had been listed incorrectly and it would be temporarily removed from sale while the pricing is corrected.
