The final of the Big Bash League has arrived.

Perth Scorchers will face Sydney Sixers in the final of the BBL 2022.

The Australian BBL is a Twenty20 franchise established in 2011 by Cricket Australia. It is one of the two T20 cricket leagues to feature amongst the top ten domestic sport leagues in average attendance.

The second of this being the Indian Premier League which usually takes place from April to June.

The IPL and the Big Bash are the most successful of the T20 leagues, while the Pakistan Super League, the Bangladesh Premier League and most recently the Hundred Competition have all put their weight to compete with the big boys of the T20 franchises.

The Sydney Sixers are the current champions and are one of the two most successful teams in the competition.

Both the Sixers and the Scorchers have three titles each.

Chrys Lynn has become the most successful batsman at the event with 2,790 runs to his name while Glenn Maxwell holds the record for the highest score. He scored 154 not out for the Melbourne Stars against the Hobart Hurricanes on 19 January 2022.

The final in the 2021/22 BBL will be available to watch through Sky TV. Sky bought the rights to the competition through to 2025 and have been broadcasting all of the games.

Will any English cricketers be in the final?

Many English T20 specialists have been featuring in the BBL this year, but with England undertaking a T20 series against the West Indies, several of these players have been called up for international duty.

Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills and James Vince could have been featuring in Friday’s final for the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers but are all taking part in the England v West Indies T20 2022 series.

England international Tom Curran is one of the Sydney Sixers strongest bowlers with 153 T20 wickets to his name. It is highly likely that if the Sixers make it through, Curran will be playing on Friday’s final.

George Garton secured his first contract in the BBL with the Adelaide Strikers following an immense season for Sussex and the Southern Brave. Garton will hope to send his team through to the final where they could face another Englishman, Laurie Evans.

Evans is featuring in the Big Bash for the first time this year following a phenomenal run at last year’s Lanka Premier League. He scored 289 at an average of 57.80.

Evans will hope his first year at the BBL is also the fourth time that his side, the Perth Scorchers, win the tournament.
