Australia’s triumph put the cherry on top of their extremely successful cake, as they took home the coveted trophy on Sunday.
A stunning century from Alyssa Healy coupled with brilliant support from Rachael Haynes saw Australia reach 356-5 in their 50 overs.
Anya Shrubsole was England’s pick of the bowlers as she proved her worth in yet another World Cup final taking three wickets, but it was not enough to stop the relentless force of the Aussies.
England came out and posted what would have been a respectable ODI score had they been playing any other side.
Natalie Sciver ended her innings on 148 not out but she was not helped enough by the rest of her squad to convert this into a winning result.
After 43.4 overs, Jess Jonassen took the final wicket and sealed Australia’s record-breaking win.
Now holding both World Cup trophies and the Ashes, Australia’s women are up there with greatest sports teams in the world.

9. Marizanne Kapp
South Africa had probably the most thrilling ride to the semi-finals out of the eight nations. Winning by a margin of one wicket or just a few runs, it was Marizanne Kapp that continued to keep South Africa’s hopes alive. 10. Sophie Ecclestone
Sophie Ecclestone was most definitely England’s most threatening player. The tournament’s highest wicket-taker, Ecclestone took a phenomenal 6/36 to tear South Africa apart in the semi-final, leading her country straight to the final. Throughout the tournament, she continued to demonstrate why she is the ODI top-ranked bowler and with an average of 15.78, there is no way you would want Ecclestone on any other team than your own. | Getty Images

11. Shabnim Ismail
Ismail took 14 wickets for South Africa overall and was one of the best new-ball bowlers in the tournament. Partnering with Kapp, Ismail dismantled opposition opening batting line-ups with ease and with an average of 18.09 ensured that those lucky ones who managed to stay in, struggled to score any runs. | Getty Images
